Faith With Actions
How do you exercise faith? Picture your faith as the only key to a vault bearing your name, filled with unlimited abundance. Now, imagine standing before it, expecting it to open without ever using the key.

and last week we heard about Joshua taking on five Amorite armies. And Joshua had such strong faith, strong faith aligned to the word that God promised him that he would deliver every single one of those Amorites into his hands, that he spoke with God in the sight of Israel and he made the Sun stand still and the move not to move and the moon not to move from its position hallelujah and I'm going to continue with faith today and to tell you from the word of God what faith actually means.
Speaker 1:And I'm reading to you directly from the word of God, from the book of Hebrews, the 11th chapter, the first verse. And it says Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen hallelujah and I'm reading it to you now from the amplified version.
Speaker 1:Now, faith is the assurance, title, deed or confirmation of things hoped for, divinely guaranteed, and the evidence of things not seen, the conviction of their reality. Faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses. Oh, hallelujah. Now you should take some time and if you don't have the Amplified Bible, you can download the app and check the Amplified version of Hebrews 11.1. It just explains it so beautifully. And faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen, something that you cannot see. So, in all, faith is just about being sure of what is going to happen, having no doubt Jesus is in control and, you see, you might see the situation look like something else with your worldly wisdom and we all do.
Speaker 1:I am not pointing a finger at anyone here, I am just saying we all do. But you should know and you should be assured of the outcome through the word of God. That's what. Through the word of God, that's what faith is defined as in the Bible. It's the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Speaker 1:Hallelujah, you know, 2 Corinthians says that we walk by faith and not by sight. We walk by faith and not by sight. You know, it's something that you've heard before, something that you've probably said with your own mouth also. But if you actually sit down and think about this passage of scripture from 2nd Corinthians, you walk by faith and not by sight. So we are supposed to walk by the word of God, not by sight, not by what you see, but by the word of God. Not by what the market says about what's going to happen about the future, not by what your bank balances say, not by what your medical report says, but by what the word of God says. And in Matthew 4.4. But Jesus replied it is written and forever remains written. Oh hallelujah, it is written and forever remains written. Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God. Oh, hallelujah, hallelujah.
Speaker 2:Oh, hallelujah.
Speaker 1:Walk by faith, not by sight. You live not by bread alone, but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God. That's the word of God and I want to tell you. If you have a health issue, what does the Bible say about it? Isaiah 53, 5 says but he was wounded for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment for our well-being was upon him, and by his stripes we are healed. Hallelujah, amen, we are healed.
Speaker 1:Past tense You're already healed. So your sight might tell you something else, your doctor might say something else to you, your report might show you something else, but this is the word of God to you. Your report might show you something else, but this is the word of God. I know it's easier said than done, but I'm here to tell you this this morning. If you are in a financial crunch, what does the Bible say? Isaiah 45, 3,. I will give you the treasures of darkness, the hoarded treasures, the hoarded treasures, amen, and the hidden treasures of secret places, so that you may know it is I, the Lord, the God of Israel, who calls you by your name, amen.
Speaker 2:Hallelujah.
Speaker 1:If you think you're all alone and you have no one to help you and this happens to all of us the Bible says in Deuteronomy 31, 8 it is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not fail you or abandon you. Do not fear or be dismayed. Amen, Hallelujah.

Speaker 1:And you should make a note of this beautiful scripture, deuteronomy 31.8. It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you, he will not fail you or abandon you. Do not fear or be dismayed, hallelujah. So, coming back to Hebrews 11.1.
Speaker 1:Now, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. But there is something very important that I want to share with you this morning and this beautiful day from the book of James, the second chapter, the 26th verse. For as the body without the spirit is dead, for as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is also dead. Oh, that's a deep one. And just as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without any works is also dead. So having faith to move a mountain actually will be of no use if you are not backing it up with actions. That's what this passage of scripture is saying. So faith without works is dead, which means you just mouthing the words and not following it up with an action is actually as good as a dead situation. Wow, that's deep, but that's the word of God. And you have to take a step of faith and only then, and only then, does the faith come to life and I want to share an example with you this morning and that's what I want to leave you with. So there's this time when Jesus feeds the 5,000 and I think most of you know about this story and the Bible says that the 5,000 that were fed were men, not counting the women and children and he feeds the five thousand with five loaves and two fish. I mean, there was a lad there who had five loaves and two fish and jesus took it and he gave thanks and he broke it. He blessed it give thanks and he broke it and he distributed it amongst the crowds and they were filled and 12 baskets full were collected of leftover. But that's not what I want to talk to you about. Hallelujah to that and praise God for that. And after he feeds the 5,000, the Bible says he sends his disciples ahead of him on a boat to the other side while he sends the five thousand. So after all of this is done them collecting the twelve baskets full of leftovers he puts his disciples into a boat and tells them to go on to the other side while he sends the crowds away. And then the Bible says after the crowds are gone, jesus goes up on a mountain by himself to pray, and he was alone. So the disciples are now in the boat and he has sent them across to the other side. The crowds have gone and Jesus now goes up to a mountain by himself to pray and he is alone. And the Bible says by this time the disciples are in the boat, a far distance out from the land, from land, I'm sorry. And the Bible also mentions the waves were harsh and the boat was battered by the wind and the waves. So Jesus has sent his disciples out. The crowds have gone, jesus is up on a mountain and he's praying by himself and his disciples are far off from land and the boat is being battered by wind and by the waves.
Speaker 1:And the Bible says, in the fourth watch of the night and for those of I mean, we are born in this generation we don't know what's the fourth watch of the night the fourth watch of the night is between 3 am and 6 am. So the fourth watch of the night? Wow, it's 3 to 6 am. That's. That's the time where most people are more scared of anything that happens around at that time. And Jesus comes to the disciples walking on the sea. Oh, hallelujah, yeah. For those of you who have a vivid imagination, picture yourself being in that boat in the sea, because now they are at the sea or they are in the sea and their boat it doesn't say ship, it says boat. So clearly they are in a boat and it's being battered by the waves and the wind. And now, between 3 to 6 am, somewhere between that time, the sun is not up and it's dark.
Speaker 1:And now Jesus comes walking on the water and the Bible says when the disciples saw him walking on the water, they were terrified and thought that it was a ghost and they cried out in fear.
Speaker 1:And they cried out in fear. And then Matthew 14, I'm reading to you directly from the word of God Matthew 14, chapter 27, verse says but immediately Jesus spoke to them saying take courage, it is, I do not be afraid. So Jesus knows that his disciples are scared because he's walking on water and it's at that time of the fourth watch of the night, and there are waves and the winds that are battering the boat, and they're already scared. And now they see this person walking on the water and they think it's a ghost. And of course Jesus knows everything that all of them are thinking and he speaks to them, says take courage, it is, I do not be afraid. And the 28th and the 29th verse from the 14th chapter of Matthew. Peter says to him Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water. And Jesus said come. And Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came towards Jesus.
Speaker 2:Oh, hallelujah oh hallelujah.
Speaker 1:Oh, take courage, it is, I Don't be afraid. And Peter says Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water. Look at the specifics of Peter's words. Lord, if it is you command me to come to you on the water. Look at the specifics of Peter's words. Lord, if it is, you, command me to come to you on the water. And Jesus said come. And Peter got out of the boat and he walked on the water and came toward.
Speaker 1:Jesus is what the Bible says oh, hallelujah, a man walks on water. We all know a man cannot walk on water. And I'm not talking about Jesus here. Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega. I'm referring to Peter here and I want to tell you this morning that Jesus just said come. Jesus just says one word come. And Peter walked on water. Our law of physics teach us from day one that we have been on this planet, or from day one that we learn about physics, or the day that we sit in a tub. You know and it teaches you and it's well ingrained in you that you cannot walk on water. But Peter did. He had his eyes fixed on Jesus and when Jesus said come, he broke all natural laws known to mankind, and he walked on water hallelujah, oh hall.
Speaker 1:The Bible doesn't say anything about the reaction of the other disciples. It doesn't. And there were 12 disciples in that boat, but just one walked on water. Because Jesus gave a unified statement, unified word, saying come. Anyone could have gotten up and come, you'd say. Peter spoke to Jesus and Jesus had come. So he was replying to Peter. No, jesus just said come, anyone could have stepped out. Somebody could have stepped out after Peters. After they saw Peter going, they could have gotten out saying, oh wait what? He's walking on water. I want to go to.
Speaker 1:Oh, hallelujah but Peter did, and he fixed his eyes on Jesus and he broke the natural laws and he walked on water. Oh hallelujah, oh Hallelujah. 2 Corinthians 5.7, in case you want to mark it out 2 Corinthians 5.7. For we walk by faith and not by sight. For we walk by faith and not by sight, hallelujah. Hebrews 11 1. Now, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen, not seen. Nobody had ever seen anyone walk on water before that day. But Peter did, oh Hallelujah, aligned with the word of jesus when he said come. Oh hallelujah, oh hallelujah, get it this day, deepen your spirit, align yourself with the word of god and take a step of faith. Oh hallelujah, I hope you're getting it. It's a substance of things. Hope for the evidence of things not seen. Oh, and I already told you, faith without works is dead.
Speaker 1:A Peter had faith and Jesus. Jesus said come, and Peter did something that nobody has ever done on this planet. Oh, you can. You can tell me anything. I know there was no one else who's walked on water besides Peter. The evidence of things not seen, the evidence of things not seen. The evidence of things not seen. The evidence of things not seen. The evidence of things not seen. Oh, he walked on water, because Jesus released the word come and he walked on water, oh, hallelujah.
Speaker 1:I want to tell you today, whatever your situation, whatever your situation, whatever your situation, I told you when I started, easier said than done, but whatever your situation, do not walk by sight, but walk by faith. And you open that book, you open the bible, and you look and you look and you look, for what is the word of God saying about your situation? What is the word of God that pertains to your situation? And then you go and take a step of faith. Oh hallelujah, oh, don't trust me on this. Oh, you trust Jesus on this. Do you trust Jesus on this? Align yourself with the word of God and take a step of faith. The world will laugh at you. You'll have the final laugh.

Speaker 1:For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead. Also, you go ahead and decide what's the scale. You go ahead and decide what's the scale. You go ahead and decide what's the scale. The Bible says Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forevermore. He cannot deny himself. He's not a man. He cannot deny himself. What is his word is what will come to life. But you need to take a step, and when you take that step, that's when it come to life. Speaker 1:Oh, hallelujah, hallelujah, dear lord, I thank you for this beautiful word. Lord, I thank you for your double-edged sword does not go back until it has achieved what it has been set out for, lord. I thank you, lord, that you are watching over your word to perform it. I thank you, lord, that this day, people are going to leave their situations at your feet and take a step of faith aligned with your word, lord. And I thank you, lord, for what you did on that cross for us. Lord, because of which everything, everything is yea and amen in your name. Thank you, lord, for this beautiful word. Thank you, lord, for your beautiful presence. Thank you for your love. Thank you for your peace. Thank you for your grace. That's new on us every morning. Thank you for your sacrifice on that cross for us. Thank you, lord, for always, always being ever so faithful to us. Lord, and you're always in the boat with us. Thank you, lord. In Jesus' name, I pray Amen.
