Speaker 1:

The last two weeks, we've heard about faith from the Word of God, faith of the centurion where Jesus marvelled, faith of Joshua where he made the sun and the moon stand still. And we know from the book of Hebrews, the 11th chapter, the first verse, our faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. And from the word of God from the book of James, the second chapter, the 26th verse, for as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is also dead. Hallelujah, which means we have to be sure about the things that we hope for and we need to take a step towards it. We need to act on it, because the word of God says faith without works is dead, as the body without spirit is dead, and so faith without any works is also dead. So today I want to share something with you from the Bible, and it is associated with faith, but it gives you a different perspective, and I'm going straight into it from the book of Hebrews, the 6th chapter, the 12th verse, and pay attention to this beautiful morning because it will get deep into your spirit. Hebrews, the 6th chapter, the 12th verse, says so that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who, through faith and patience, inherit the promises. Oh hallelujah, hallelujah. Hebrews 6.12 says so, that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who, through faith and patience, inherit the promises. Oh hallelujah, oh, you cannot rest, you cannot be sluggish or lazy towards things. I want to tell you this morning, and you can go ahead and mark this scripture down Hebrews 6, 12, and go back and meditate on it in your own time, and go back and meditate on it in your own time. But today I want to introduce you to a new word from the word of God, from this very same passage of scripture, and it says here patience. So don't be sluggish, but instead be imitators of those who, through faith and patience, inherit the promises. Faith and patience. The last two weeks you heard about faith, and today there's a new word associated with the word faith, and it's patience and it's patience. And it says very clearly in the Bible that you will inherit the promises of God. Oh hallelujah.

Speaker 1:

And today I want to share an example with you from the Bible of somebody, through faith and patience, inherited the promise of God, and I'm going to go straight into it. And the name of this person is Abram, and most of you know him as Abraham, but his name was Abram. And let me tell you that Abram lived with his father in a place called Haran or Haran, whatever you want to call it, it's a proper noun. And Genesis, the 12th chapter, the first verse, and I'm reading directly from there Now the Lord said to Abram go forth from your country and from your relatives and your father's house to the land which I will show you. So before this, abram is he's just announced, as part of the lineage. But God comes to Abram and says leave your country, leave your relatives, leave your father's house, as part of the lineage. But God comes to Abram and says leave your country, leave your relatives, leave your father's house and go to the place that I will show you. And then, in the 12th chapter, second and third verse, he says and I will make of you a great nation and I will bless you and I will make your name great and you shall be a blessing and I will bless those who bless you and the one who curses you I will curse, and in you, all the families of the earth will be blessed. Amen. What a beautiful promise. Take your time, mark it down, meditate on it in your time.

Speaker 1:

Genesis, the 12th chapter.

Speaker 1:

Second, the first verse onwards actually, but I'm reading to you from the second and third I will make of you a great nation. Leave your father's house, leave your relatives, leave everyone Leave. Leave. Go To the land where I will show you and I will make of you a great nation and I will bless you and I'll make your name great and you shall be a blessing and I will bless those who bless you. I will curse those who curse you and all the families of the earth in you will be blessed. Oh hallelujah, what a promise.

Speaker 1:

And I want to tell you, abram was obedient and he left his father's home, and the Bible says that Abram left with his wife Sarai and his nephew Lot. And for those of you who didn't know, let me just make this very clear Abram, at this point of time, is 75 years old when he leaves his father's house, 75 years old. Of course, those were different times and you know, if you know the bible or if you ever take some time to read it, some of them lived at for very different ages 500 and 700, 170, 250. These were all normal years that they lived. But abram, at this point, is 75 years old and Abram takes everything that he possesses and I told you with his wife Sarai and his nephew Lot, and he stops at a place called Canaan and then went to a mountain east of a place called Bethel where he pitched a tent and he made an altar there for God, and then he continued his journey south Because there was a bad famine there. And he goes down into Egypt and the Bible says and I want to tell you that Abram prospered in Egypt. He became rich through the Pharaoh, who gave him sheep and oxen and donkeys, and male and female servants and and female donkeys and camels, as mentioned in the Bible and there's a long story behind it, but I'm not getting into that today and then Abram took all his possessions and he left from Egypt and he went back to Bethel. You know that place, I told you. He pitched his tent, he went back there and the Bible says in Genesis 13, 2nd verse now, abram was very rich in livestock in silver and gold.

Speaker 1:

Now, abram was very rich in livestock in silver and gold. Oh, he must have been really rich if the Bible is calling him out as rich. It says very rich, oh, hallelujah. So God has already made Abram rich the moment he told him leave your father's home, leave him go, and I will do this for you. He has already made him rich. They are so rich that Lot Abram go, and I will do this for you. He's already made him rich. They're so rich that Lot and Abram cannot even share the space that they've been given the land that they're living in. It's too small for the two of them. So they decide to split. So Lot goes to another place and says I'll take this place and you can stay here, so that we don't clash with each other and we have enough of space. Can you imagine that?

Speaker 1:

And in Genesis, the 13th chapter, the 14th to the 16th verse, here this morning, the Lord said to Abram after the Lord had separated from him now lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are and listen to this this morning. Lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, north and south and east and west, for all the land which you see, I will give to you and your descendants forever. I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth, so that if anyone can number the dust of the earth, then your descendants can also be numbered. Oh hallelujah, oh hallelujah. Jesus, god takes him to a point and he shows Abram and he says look, north, south, west, east, just look as far as you can see, that's how much I will make your descendants. And if anyone could count the dust on the earth, if anyone could count it, then they'll be able to number your descendants. Which means you can't even count his descendants. And I want to tell you this is God talking to Abram in person? Oh hallelujah. But I want to tell you something Abram does not have a single child. I already told you he left his father's house at the age of 75. Want to tell you something Abram does not have a single child. I already told you he left his father's house at the age of 75 and while this is happening and while God is talking to him, he does not have a single child.

Speaker 1:

And then one day the Bible says the Lord comes to Abram in a vision Genesis 15, 5th verse, 15 chapter, the 5th verse and he took him outside and he said now look toward the heavens and count the stars. And if you are able to count them, he said to him so shall your descendants be? Oh, hallelujah. And the 15th, 6th chapter says and he believed in the Lord and it was accounted to him for righteousness, hallelujah. There's a secret in this. And he believed in the Lord and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Abraham is 75. Oh, I'm sorry, I'm just coming back to this. And he believed in the Lord and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Abraham is 75. Oh, I'm sorry, I'm just coming back to this At this point of time, when God comes to Abraham in a vision and he takes him to count the stars in the sky.

Speaker 1:

Abraham is 86 years old. It's already 11 years from the time that he took him out of his father's house and he's still telling Abram look at the stars, look at the dust if you can count it, this will be your descendants. Or look at the stars in the sky if you can count them, that will be the count of your descendants. Which means, in other words, he is telling Abram you are going to have descendants in in numbers you cannot count. And the Bible says he believed in the Lord, oh, hallelujah. And it was accounted to him for righteousness. Oh God, of course.

Speaker 1:

God knew his heart and there are times in the Bible where God is talking to him For righteousness. Oh God, of course God knew his heart. And there are times in the Bible when God is talking to him and Abraham is even smiling, thinking I don't know what he was thinking Because the Bible doesn't mention it, but he believes in God, which is why God knew it Right. Of course God knew it. God knows, of course God knew it, god knows it, god knows you, god knows everything about you. He's the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.

Speaker 1:

And I want to tell you now Abraham is 99 years old. He's 99 years old, and God comes to him again and in Genesis, the 17th chapter, the second and fourth verse, I will establish my covenant between me and you, and I will multiply you exceedingly. As for me, behold, my covenant is with you and you will be the father of a multitude of nations. Oh hallelujah, oh Hallelujah. He called him at 75, he's 99,. There's no sign of any children. Of course, abraham has one son, called Ishmael at this point, when he was 86 actually, but now it's 99 and he's still telling him you will have a seed of your own. And he changes his name at this point of time, and he calls him Abraham, and he changes his wife's name from Sarai to Sarah and he gives him the name Isaac and he says this will be your son. You will have a son through Sarah. Oh, and I'm going back to this beautiful passage of scripture and Abraham believed God and was accounted to him for righteousness. Oh hallelujah. And God gives Abraham a son at the age of 100. Oh hallelujah.

Speaker 1:

I want to give you a perspective this morning and I told you I'm sharing this story from the bible with you for a reason. First of all, fathom moving out of your comfort zone at the age of 75. Oh, you'll say there were different times and different ages. You know what? Just look at it the way it is black and white 75 year old, you are pulled out of your comfort zone at the age of 75 and you are told by God in person do this. And you are obedient. And you do it. And God tells Abram I'll make you the father of many nations come. Anyone who blesses you will be blessed. Anyone who curses you will be cursed and through you, everyone will be blessed. Everyone is coming from God. And Abram just moved. And from that age till the age of 99, god keeps calling on to him and talking to him one on one and telling him yo, these are many as the descendants that I will give you the dust if you can count it and the stars in the sky if you can count it.

Speaker 1:

But Abraham just believed God.

Speaker 1:

He just believed God. He just believed God. In fact, there is a time even when Sarah laughs at God and God even turns around and asks her why are you laughing? When he told her that you will have a son. And she didn't believe it. But Abraham believed God and it was accounted to him as righteousness. Let me tell you Abraham is the father of many nations and I will tell you something this morning, excuse me, and I know this deep inside my spirit. Abraham just knew, he didn't doubt, and the Bible says it. He believed God and it was accounted to him for righteousness. It was accounted to him as righteousness. He just believed God. And I want to tell you today, three races believe in him as their father and, yes, everyone and every family, as the word of God was released on Abraham in the book of Genesis I will bless those who bless you, I will bless those who bless you, I will curse those who curse you and in you, all the families of the earth will be blessed. All oh God does not mince words.

Speaker 1:

Yes, abraham believed God and he waited patiently. Can you imagine being 99 and from 75 already been shaken out of your comfort zone to the age of 99? Promise something by God in person. And you're waiting. It's 25 years and you're just waiting. Abraham got Isaac at the age of 100. And you're waiting. It's 25 years and you're just waiting. Abraham got Isaac at the age of 100.

Speaker 1:

Hallelujah, faith and patience. And I want to tell you and leave this with you, from the book of Romans, the 4th chapter, the 19th to the 21st verse and not being weak in faith. Pay attention to this. Mark this out, read this in your own time. And not being weak in faith. He did not consider his own body already dead, since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah's womb. He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God and being fully convinced that what he had promised he was able to deliver.

Speaker 1:

Oh hallelujah, hallelujah. Romans 4.19. Mark it and read it, oh, hallelujah, so that you may not be sluggish but imitators of those who, through faith and patience, inherit the promise of God. Oh hallelujah. Inherit the promise of God, oh hallelujah.

Speaker 1:

Abraham inherited every promise that came to him through God. How faith and patience. He just believed God and he waited. And I know it's difficult sometimes, but I'm here this morning to tell you faith and patience and you will inherit the promise of God. It's not sometimes, but I'm here this morning to tell you faith and patience and you will inherit the promise of God. It's not me saying it to you, it's the word of God in Hebrews 6.12. I told you. Mark it down and read it when you need to. Faith and patience, just as Abraham did. He believed God and he waited, and whenever God told him something, he said must have thought in his head so be it. Lord, never questioned, even once. Never questioned even once. Hallelujah.

Speaker 1:

Dear Lord, I thank you for this beautiful word. I thank you for your double-edged sword. I thank you, lord, for your watching over your word to perform it. I pray, lord, that we don't be sluggish. No more, lord. And through faith and patience, we will inherit all the promises which are ye and are in your name, which are in your name and through your blood. Thank you for your beautiful presence. Lord, thank you for what you did on that cross for us, lord. Thank you, lord, that you're always at our right-hand side, lord, and I thank you, lord. Through us, the nations will be blessed. Thank you for this beautiful time, thank you for your beautiful word. In Jesus' name, I pray Amen.
