- Ephesians 1:18-20
This morning I want to share a story with you, a story at the time when Jesus was on this planet planet and I'm going straight into it, excuse me and Jesus is at a place where he gets news that one of the rulers daughters is very unwell and is about to die. And before I get into the story, you know, some of some of us just cannot help ourselves because we have wonderful imaginations. So go ahead and imagine this situation this time, if you would. And what's happening. And now many, many places know about Jesus because he's travelling from city to city, from place to place, from region to region, and he's preaching the good news, he's spreading the news about the kingdom of God and the kingdom of heaven, and people are getting to know him. And now people are following him because he's working in miracles, signs and wonders. And, as I said, he's at this place where somebody comes and tells him that the ruler of the synagogue, his daughter, is unwell and he decides that he's going to go there because the ruler is requesting him and the Bible so says that he starts walking in the direction of the home and there's a crowd around him and, of course, he's got his 12 disciples and, I'm sure so many other people that were just following him from city to city and there's a crowd around him and he's on his way to the ruler's home. But I want to tell you that's not the story that I want to tell you about this morning. But let me just tell you what happens. It so happens that when he reaches there, everyone's already sitting and crying because apparently the child is dead. But Jesus is in the place there's no such thing as dead and he just gets into the room and he pulls the child up by her hand and she comes back to life, oh hallelujah. But, as I said, that's not the story I want to tell you about this morning.
Speaker 1:While he's on his way to the ruler's home, as I said, he's surrounded by crowds and the Bible says there's a woman there who had an issue of blood for 12 years. She had an issue of blood for 12 years Another version calls it a hemorrhage and she knows that he is passing through that place and she knows and says to herself if I may just touch the hem of his garment, I will be made well. Wow, now you can just imagine this woman. And the Bible wait even says that she had spent all her livelihood on physicians and she could not be healed. And since this is one of the stories that is picked up in multiple books, I want to tell you there's another version of it that even says that she got worse after spending all that money and everything that she had. So, basically, she probably has nothing, she's probably on the road, she probably doesn't have a home because she had no money. She probably doesn't have a husband because she has an issue of bleeding and she's probably on the road with a problem of bleeding. And if she has some money, then she's probably sitting in soiled clothes and she knows that Jesus is passing this place and if I may touch the hem of his garment, I will be made well. Oh, I am sure you can feel for this woman. Oh, I am sure you can feel for this woman. What a state and at a time like that.
Speaker 1:And the Bible says when she touched the hem of his garment, jesus stopped and asked who touched me? Oh, hallelujah. So she made a dash for it, didn't she Hem of his garment? She went straight for the hem of his garment Because, in her mind, if I just touch the hem of his garment, forget touching him. If I just touch the hem of his garment, I will be made well. And you know what she went for it and you know what Jesus stops. And he asks his disciples who touched me? And Peter, in fact, turned around to Jesus and said master, do you see the crowds around you? And you ask who touched you? Everyone is pressing against you. And Jesus said no, somebody touched me, for power has gone out of me, oh hallelujah. And then the bible so goes to say that the lady, trembling, falls in front of Jesus and explains the situation and how she was. She has been healed immediately. Because the Bible says she was healed immediately and beautiful. Jesus stops, looks at her and says daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, oh hallelujah. And I'm reading it to you from the word of God, just in case you think this is my own story.
Speaker 1:Now, a woman and this is from the book of Luke, the eighth chapter, the 43rd verse onwards a woman having a flow of blood for 12 years, who spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any, came from behind and touched the border of his garment and immediately, and immediately, her flow of blood stopped. Oh hallelujah. Came from behind and touched the border of his garment. I want to tell you that you know, every day you get up and you decide today I'll take the tube, today I'll take the metro, today I'll take the train, today I'll go by road. And she decided she's going to go for the hem of his garment from behind. And she went through the crowds from behind, which means he's walking in the front and she's chasing from behind. Can you imagine that? Oh, people must have stamped on her. But she did not give up and she went for the border of his garment, the hem of his garment, from behind, and touched him. Oh, hallelujah, hallelujah, some of you can feel a tremendous presence of God. And then Luke 8, 46 says but Jesus said someone did touch me, for I am aware that power has gone out of me. Oh, wow, hallelujah. And the woman was made well.
Speaker 1:And today I want to tell you that Jesus stopped in his path. He was, I told you he was, excuse me. He was on an agenda, he, he was going to heal someone's daughter and in the middle of that he stopped, while the crowds were falling, chasing him, running behind him. He stopped because power went out of him. The lady's touch on the hem of his garment had made power go out of him, hallelujah. And I want to tell you, jesus could not help it because power just went out of him.
Speaker 1:And today I'm going to share two things with you related to this story. The first one is I will tell you what is this power that went out of Jesus. And second is to give you a secret about the situation, hallelujah. And let me just start with telling you about what is this power that is being referred to in this story, with this lady and Jesus, and the situation. And I am reading it to you from the word of God, from the book of Ephesians, and you can go and mark this and you can meditate on it later In your own time.
Speaker 1:Ephesians 1. The 18th chapter onwards, the 18th verse onwards I'm sorry. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened. And I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, you will understand the scripture and it is revealed to you so that you will know what is the hope of his calling and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of his power toward us who believe. Oh hallelujah.
Speaker 1:And this beautiful passage of scripture starts with I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, which means I pray that your eyes are open, that you understand the scripture and that you will know the hope of his calling and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the Saints and what is the surpassing greatness of his power towards us who believe, or the power word has come again, hasn't it? For the power towards us who believe. Oh hallelujah, there is power for you. There is power for you and me, and this passage of scripture cannot make it more clear and says it very clearly that it's directed to us who believe. So let me tell you you believe in Jesus, you accept him as your saviour and your father? Do you accept that he died on a cross for you and on the third day he rose again and today he is seated at the right hand of God. He is seated at the right hand of God. Do you believe it? If you believe it, that power is for you and he. Even. If you didn't believe it or you didn't know it until now, let me tell you here's your chance and you can put your faith in his name, and this power is for you, and now you have this power with you, oh hallelujah.
Speaker 1:And let me tell you what Ephesians says in the next verse. The very same passage of Scripture, ephesians, the first chapter, the very next verse, says those are in accordance with the working of the strength of his might, which he brought about in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at the right hand in the heavenly places of hallelujah. I told you go and mark it Ephesians 1, 18 to 20 and meditate on it in your own time. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of his might, which he brought about in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at the right hand in the heavenly places. Oh hallelujah, I told you, put your faith in Jesus, believe what he did on that cross for you and me, believe that he died, believe that he was raised on the third day, believe that today he is seated in the heavenly places at the right hand of God, and in accordance, as stated in Ephesians means aligned with it, means in line with, oh hallelujah.
Speaker 1:So, in short, I want to tell you that this power that is for you has been kept aside for you. And I want to tell you, it's the same power that was used to resurrect Jesus from the dead. Oh hallelujah, oh hallelujah. And the key is in this scripture Ephesians 1, 18 to 20. And you can read it, and you can read it again, and read it again and meditate on it, and I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, that you understand the scripture, oh Hallelujah.
Speaker 1:So, in short, you and I, oh Hallelujah, have resurrection power, oh, hallelujah, oh, you have resurrection power with you. Oh hallelujah, hallelujah. And I told you there was a second thing that I wanted to share with you. The first thing is that you have resurrection power with you, the same power that God exerted when he raised Jesus from the dead, that same power that Jesus operated on when he was walking on this planet. That same power for those who believe, in accordance to what he has done on this planet, and if you put your faith in him, he is kept aside for you, oh hallelujah. And the second thing I wanted to share with you and I told you, I'm giving you a secret today how do you tap into this power? This power is for me, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really. Go read Ephesians 1, 18-20. Really, really, and how do you get access to this power? I will give you the answer. It's a very simple, straight answer and I'm coming to the end of this beautiful word for today. And here's the answer it's absolute faith, absolute faith, faith without doubt. And if you want to have and live each day operating in this power which is resurrection, power that comes from God. It's the power that Jesus walked when he was on this planet. It's the same power that the lady pulled out of him. With the touch of faith, absolute faith.
Speaker 1:The woman with the issue of the blood, with the issue of blood, had no doubt that she would be healed. She had no doubt if I may touch the hem of his garment, I will be made well. Read it in the word of God If I may touch the hem of his garment, I will be made well. There's no doubt in that. And she went for the hem of his garment. I told you that, I said it multiple times today. She went for it. She did not stop, relentlessly, went for the hem of the garment and got her healing. She got the healing and Jesus in fact stopped and said Wait, what power has gone out of me, oh hallelujah. Oh, she got her healing, something that had plagued her for 12 years and just made her worse. The Bible says, in fact, she spent everything and had gotten no better. And then faith, and Jesus, oh hallelujah, she had no doubt and she went for the hem of his garment and got her healing.
Speaker 1:Peter had no doubt. He walked on water. He had no doubt. All he said was Lord, if it is, you call unto me and I will come to you. And Jesus said come. And Peter stepped out of the boat and he walked on water. He had no doubt. He did get doubt after that and he sank. And Jesus picked him up with his right hand and said oh, you of little faith, you doubt it's, it's, it's as clear as day. But hey, peter walked on water. The only other person who's walked on water was jesus, and the other person to walk on water was peter. Absolute faith, no doubt. Hallelujah, jesus, oh hallelujah.
Speaker 1:Some, some of you, can feel the presence of God in a tremendous manner. I want to tell you, joshua made the sun stand still and the moon not move from its current position. He had no doubt. He spoke to the elements as if they were to obey his voice and the sun and the moon heard the voice of Joshua and they stood still. Oh, hallelujah, he had no doubt. Oh, hallelujah, he had no doubt.
Speaker 1:Elijah, elijah, oh powerful man of God, elijah, hallelujah, called upon fire from heaven. Now, he had no doubt. When he was the only prophet left and they were looking to behead him, he stood in front of 800 so-called prophets, 400 of Baal and 400 of Asherah, and you can read it in the Bible the so-called prophets. He stood alone in front of them and he mocked them and he made a spectacle of them and he called down fire from heaven, right in front of them and in front of the whole of Israel, because he had no doubt, he had absolute faith. Absolute faith. That's your answer, that's your key. And if you think, if you think you don't understand, that's Elijah, that's Joshua, there in the Bible. They are in the Bible because they had absolute faith.
Speaker 1:Let me tell you that the woman is in the Bible because she had absolute faith. There is no name to her, but just that she had absolute faith. And Peter had absolute faith. And there are so many more examples that I can share with you, but that's all that I have time for today, and I want to tell you this morning he's not a respecter of people. He's the same God and this is the same power that we are talking about, that the lady tapped into that. Peter walked on water with that, joshua made the Sun and the moon stand still and Elijah called fire from heaven down on the earth. The same power, the same Lord. The Bible says God is the same yesterday, today and forevermore. He is not a respecter of men or people. He cannot deny himself. He remains faithful, though we are faithless.
Speaker 1:And this morning I am just telling you the secret is absolute faith.
Speaker 1:Hallelujah, it's absolute faith. You have absolute faith in what Jesus did on that cross for you. You might find it really hard for you to believe what I'm telling you, but you know what you can make the sun stand still and you can call down fire from heaven. Do you have that faith Is all I'm asking you. You have an illness. You can call your healing onto yourself. Let me tell you that this morning.
Speaker 1:Hallelujah, dear Lord, I thank you for this beautiful word. I thank you for your double-edged sword that does not go back until it has achieved or it has been set out for lord. I thank you, lord, and I pray that the eyes of everyone here may be open and they may be enlightened to the fact of what you've done on that cross for for us, lord, and that this power is always with them and their right hand. Thank you, lord, for this beautiful time. Thank you for your beautiful presence that you fill people's homes with. Thank you, lord, for letting someone know that you're there for them. Thank you, lord, for showing someone your nail pierced palms. In Jesus' name, I pray Amen.
