The Choice
The key to a worry-free and anxiety-free life lies in our hands. It is a choice that we need to make.
Tune into this week's episode to truly understand the extent of God's promise to us for an absolutely carefree life.
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
- Matthew 6:34 NKJV
I need to start by telling someone this morning that God loves you. Don't be mistaken by things that are happening around you. Don't be mistaken by things that are happening around you. God absolutely loves you. Just know that no matter what situation you're going through, he's always with you, you know.
Speaker 1:I want to tell you that this morning Jesus fasted for 40 days and 40 nights. The Bible says it accounts for it. And then the Bible goes on to say that he was led into the wilderness to be tested by the devil. The Bible says after he fasted he was hungry. And Matthew, the fourth chapter, the third verse onwards, says now, when the tempter came to him, he said if you are the son of God and I'm reading to you directly from the word of God, from the book of Matthew, the fourth chapter, the third verse onwards now, if you are the son of God, command that these stones become bread. But Jesus answered to him and said it is written man shall not live by bread alone, hallelujah, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God, hallelujah. Then the devil takes Jesus to a pinnacle at a temple and he says to him if you are the son of God, throw yourself down from here, and he shall give his angels charge over you and in their hands they shall bear you up. Up lest you dash your foot against a stone. And Jesus's response.
Speaker 1:In Matthew, the fourth chapter, the seventh verse, jesus said to him it is written again you shall not tempt the Lord, your God. That was the second one. And then Jesus took the devil, took Jesus to a high mountain and he showed him everything, all the kingdoms and their glory. And he said to Jesus all these things I will give to you if you fall down and worship me and worship me. And then Jesus's response to the devil. In Matthew, the fourth chapter, the tenth verse, jesus said to him away with you, satan, for it is written you shall worship the Lord, your God, and him only you shall serve. Oh, hallelujah, hallelujah.
Speaker 1:I want to tell you you should mark this down and you should read it and you should meditate on it. And the point that I am going to make to you this morning, and you should understand, is that the devil let me just tell you anyways, the bible says that the devil left him alone and then angels came and ministered to Jesus, and the point that I am trying to tell you this morning is and then angels came and ministered to Jesus. And the point that I'm trying to tell you this morning is, as I said, mark them down and read them in your own time and understand these three beautiful passages of scripture that Jesus responded to the devil. That mean a lot and I'm not going to make it, I'm not going to focus on that this morning, but I want to tell you and you need to understand this that even Jesus was tempted by the devil. Even Jesus was tempted by the devil. And please note, in the second example he even quotes scriptures to Jesus. So Jesus responds to him in, obviously, the way he has to respond to him. But what's more important and what I want to bring to your attention is that it was after this that Jesus came on to the center stage.
Speaker 1:It was after this point that Jesus' ministry began. It was after this point that the healings, the signs, the miracles, the wonders, the crowds, the people pressing against him, the entourages, the disciples, oh hallelujah, it all happened after this. But important to note that the devil even came to Jesus. And now that all this is done, and now that Jesus' name is all over the place, it's all over the land. People know about him, people are running behind him, people are seeking him out, they're following him everywhere he goes. His fame is known throughout the land, as I said, and people bring to him their sick.
Speaker 1:The Bible says their afflicted who had various diseases and torments. The Bible says People who were demon-possessed and epileptics. The Bible says Paralytics, and he healed them all. Oh, hallelujah, oh hallelujah. And you should understand this time. Put yourself in this, you know, in this, in this time warp, where you need to know that people don't know what's happening. They can't understand what's happening. There are diseases, diseases that don't even have names, probably at that time, and no forms of cure. But oh, wow, there is this one person. His name is Jesus and he is healing them all. Oh, hallelujah, he is healing them all. And again I am going back to what the Bible calls them out as Afflicted with various diseases and torments, people who were demon possessed, and epileptics and paralytics. Wow, and he healed them all, hallelujah. And the crowds followed him everywhere, from Galilee, judea, the Decapolis which is the very famous, known ten cities at the time Jerusalem, syria and beyond, the Jordan. In a matter of days, hallelujah.
Speaker 1:And then there is this time when Jesus goes up on a mountain and he teaches the crowds because they are constantly following him, and I want to tell you that these teachings are just beautiful, excuse me, and they're captured in the, in two gospels, actually Matthew and Luke. But I'm sharing, I'm sharing it with you today, from the book of Matthew and it's beautifully captured in the book of Matthew, in the chapters 5, 6 and 7, and to most people they are known as the Sermon on the Mount. Hallelujah, the first time that Jesus addresses the crowds and teaches them. Hallelujah, it's super powerful, it's beautiful.
Speaker 1:Jesus' words are beautiful and today I'm sharing with you directly from the words of Jesus. It's for you this morning and you know you absolutely should read these beautiful books, these beautiful chapters five, six and seven, to understand the beautiful words that Jesus shared from that mount in the book of Matthew. But today I am sharing a part of it and it's from Matthew, the 6th chapter, and I want to tell you in the beginning of this year there was a scripture shared and that I am going back to today from the book of Matthew, the 6th chapter, the 24th verse no one can serve two masters. It's the word, and that I'm going back to today from the book of Matthew, the 6th chapter, the 24th verse. No one can serve two masters. It's the word of God. It's the words directly spoken by Jesus to the crowds the first time he ever addressed a crowd while he was teaching them A lesson for you and me this morning no one can serve two masters, for either he will hate one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to one and despise the other.
Speaker 1:You cannot serve God and Mammon Hallelujah, just for those of you who don't know, mammon is the god of wealth. So Jesus is telling you and me, saying it this morning, today, that you can either serve him or you can serve wealth. It's his words, people, it's not mine. You can't serve both and, as I said, it was shared in the beginning of the year I cannot help you choose, though it is very obvious, but I cannot help you choose. But through the words of Jesus today, I can tell you that Jesus says to you and me that you just cannot serve both. You will need to be loyal to one, or you would love one and you'd hate the other. Loyal to one, or you would love one and you'd hate the other. So you can only serve one.
Speaker 1:And this, as I said, going back to it, it's the words of Jesus. And then he goes on to say, from the sixth chapter, the, the 25th verse. This is Matthew, the sixth chapter, the 25th verse. Therefore, I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, what you will drink, nor about your body. What will you put on? Is not life more than food and the body more? Hallelujah. And he goes on. To start with, therefore, and I want to tell you that he starts Matthew 6, 25 with, therefore, which means, if you put Jesus as your head, he's already given you the option. You can't serve two masters. You can't serve me and mammon, you can't do it. And as beautiful and you can't serve two masters, you can't serve me and Mammon, you can't do it. And as beautiful and as gentle as Jesus is and as clear as day as he is, even while speaking on the mount, he does not tell them who to choose. And, just as his words are being shared this morning, as I told you, I can't help you choose, but I can tell you this is when Jesus says Therefore, don't worry about your life If you put Jesus as your head, if you put Jesus as your guide to your life, if you make Jesus your savior, if you pick Jesus to serve. Therefore, you will have nothing to worry about, oh hallelujah, oh hallelujah. Nothing to worry about, because the Bible says all these things shall be added to you. All these things, all these things, whatever you want to call these things, all of it will be added to you. All these things, all these things, whatever you want to call these things, all of it will be added to you. Hallelujah. The Bible says he adds no sorrow to it. Whatever these things are that you want to define as these things, they will be added to you and he adds no sorrow to it. Hallelujah. So, therefore, if you put Jesus as your head and your guide, you will have nothing to worry about. No need to worry about what you will eat or what you will drink or what you will wear and I am going to take it a little further what you are going to do about this or what you are going to do about that. Basically, do not worry is the word for today. A line to the word of god, a line to the words released by jesus on the mount when he the first time he spoke to people as a crowd on the whole teaching. And then he goes on to say, from the 26th verse oh, look at the birds in the air, for they don't sow and they don't reap, nor do they gather into their barns. Then he goes on to say from the 26th verse oh, look at the birds in the air, for they don't sow and they don't reap, nor do they gather into their barns, yet your heavenly father feeds them. Are you not more value than they are? Oh, of course you are. The Bible says you are made a little lower than Elohim, hallelujah. You are made a little lower than him, oh, hallelujah. And in case you didn't understand the scripture, it says look at the birds. They don't have bank accounts and bank balances and hey, they don't even have jobs to do. They don't have barns, they don't have little storehouses on trees, yet your father, the same father, feeds them. And are you not more valued than they are? Of course you are, hallelujah.
Speaker 1:Which of you, by worrying, can add one cubit to his stature? Jesus says which of you, by worrying, can add a cubit? It's an old. It's an old measurement. Let's call it a few. It's not a few centimeters, actually it's quite a lot. But basically jesus is saying tell me, by worrying, can you worrying? Can you add anything to your life? You cannot change anything by worrying, so why do you worry about clothing? Jesus says in the next verse, 28 onwards Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow.
Speaker 1:They neither toil nor spin. Yet I say to you, even Solomon, in all his glory, was not arrayed like one of them. Oh Hallelujah, don't worry about anything. Jesus is telling you this morning, and he is sharing the example of the lilies, saying look how beautiful the lilies are. They don't toil and spin, which means they don't get up every day and run to work and rush and work hard. They don't have to do all that, and yet God looks after them. And then he's, he's. Jesus is even comparing the lily to Solomon and all his splendor. Let me tell you why. Solomon, in case you didn't know, solomon was rich, solomon probably wore wonderful clothes, solomon was probably clothed in gold all the time. And yet Jesus is telling you and me even the lily cannot be compared to Solomon in all his glory. Oh hallelujah, why? Because he takes care of them. Oh hallelujah, oh hallelujah. They don't toil, they don't spin, they don't bother, they don't stress, they don't spin, they don't bother, they don't stress, they don't worry. They just dare because their father takes care of them. And that's what this word is saying this morning oh, he will take care of you if you make him your head. Oh, hallelujah, and Matthew 6, chapter 30, verse onwards Now, if God so clothes, the grass of the field, which is today and tomorrow, is thrown into the oven, which means it dies and becomes hay.
Speaker 1:And they throw it into the oven. Oh, how much more will he clothe you? Oh, you of little faith, hallelujah, you're worried about what you want to eat, what you drink, where you stay, what you are going to wear. Worry about nothing. God takes care of the grass on the fields.
Speaker 1:Jesus is telling you this morning. How much more will your father take care of you? How much more will he take care of you? You are his creation, take care of you. How much more will he take care of you? You are his, you are his creation. Oh, hallelujah.
Speaker 1:And as I said from the bible, you are made a little lower than elohim. You're made a little lower than him. Oh, he's absolutely going to take care of you in ways you can't even fathom, hallelujah. And yet again he's saying in matthew31. Therefore, after all giving you all these examples of the grass and the lilies, and Solomon in all his glory, the ravens, the birds of the air that don't have storages and they don't work, they don't toil, they don't spin. And yet, therefore, after all these examples, do not worry, says Yeshua, about what shall we eat or what shall we drink, or what shall we wear. Hallelujah, do not worry about anything, what you will eat, what you will drink, what you will wear.
Speaker 1:And then Jesus goes on to say for after all these things the Gentiles seek, for your heavenly father knows that you need all these things, but seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Oh, hallelujah, all these things that you seek will just be added to you, but you need to seek his kingdom. God knows what you want, god knows what you need, and he will give it to you In the words of Jesus shared with you today from the Mount, from the Sermon on the Mount, from the book of Matthew, the 6th chapter, and I have given them to you. Read them in your own time. You make him your head, you choose him over wealth. Your wants, your needs, he will provide. But seek him first. Seek his face, don't seek his hand. Seek his face, his beautiful face. You seek his face. Don't seek his hand. Seek his face, his beautiful face. You seek his face. Don't seek his hand. Seek having a relationship with him. Seek Jesus, the one who came down on this planet just to climb up on a cross To die for you and me. You seek him.
Speaker 1:And then the Bible says all these things will be added to you. All these things, you can make a list of whatever you feel is all, write it down and it'll be added to you because he loves you. I started with telling somebody for this. Somebody on needed to hear that today is god loves you. Oh, he absolutely loves you. Oh, people will deceive you and leave you high and dry, but God will never leave you nor forsake you. Hallelujah. And because he loves you, all these things will be added unto you. All these things will be added unto you, hallelujah.
Speaker 1:Matthew 6.34 goes on to say Therefore, do not worry. Yet again, for the third time in this passage of scripture, in this chapter, jesus is telling you don't worry. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Hallelujah, sufficient, for the day is its own trouble. Oh hallelujah, do not worry about anything. Tomorrow will take care of itself. Oh hallelujah, jesus is at the stern of the boat with you, if you let him. And when he's at the stern of that boat, oh, you have to worry about nothing. Worry about nothing. He will take care of everything. Oh hallelujah, oh hallelujah, leave all your worries at his feet this morning. Take those things in your head and place them at his feet.
Speaker 1:There are things that are at the back of your head. There are things that sometimes wake you up in the night. There are things that you're constantly thinking about at work. Oh, it may be your health. It may be your finances. It may be your you know that relative. It may be that person at work who's really after you. It may be your boss. It may be your, you know that relative. It may be that person at work who's really after you. It may be your boss. It may be so many things, so many things. It might be that one little project that you've taken on board and it's worrying you. Oh, leave all your worries at his feet.
Speaker 1:He takes care of the birds in the air. He takes care of the lilies in their beautiful splendor. He takes care of the birds in the air. He takes care of the lilies and their beautiful splendor. He takes care of the grass on the field. Will he not take care of you? Of course he will take care of you. Don't worry about anything. Just leave it at His feet. Take all of those things and bunch them up into a bag and just leave it at His feet. Leave it at His feet, make Him your head. Oh, he will sit at the boat and he will take you to where he needs you to be.
Speaker 1:Hallelujah, dear lord. I thank you for this beautiful world, lord. I thank you for people's cares and worries that have been left at your feet, lord, and you will take care of them, lord. Thank you, lord, for I can see chains being smashed. Lord, thank you, lord. I can see things shackles, lord. Thank you, lord. I can see shackles being broken. Lord, thank you.
Speaker 1:Hallelujah, hallelujah, thank you, lord. People are turning to you, lord, hallelujah. Thank you, lord, for giving up your life on a cross for us. Lord. Thank you, lord, for wearing that crown of thorns upon your head. Lord, that our stress and our worries will be gone. Thank you for this beautiful day that you have made and we will rejoice and be glad in it. I crush all the worries in the name of Jesus. Thank you for this beautiful time. Thank you for your beautiful word. Thank you for your love that you've showered upon us, lord. Thank you, lord, that though we are faithless, you remain faithful. Lord, thank you for your name. That's above all names. Every knee will bow on the earth, above the earth and below the earth. Thank you for your love, lord, thank you. Thank you for your presence. Thank you for your smile that you're showering on people. Thank you for your presence. Thank you for your smile that you are showering on people. Thank you for your beautiful face that people can see you. Hallelujah. Thank you, lord. In Jesus name, I pray Amen.
