- Psalms 46:10 NKJV
Today I want to start with sharing a story with you, and this is to let you know how God works. To let you know how God works. And I'm taking you back to the time of a time in the Bible when there was a man of God called Elisha. And the Bible says that there's a king, a king of Syria, who was looking to make war against Israel. And this time that I'm sharing, this story that I'm sharing to you this morning, is from 2 Kings, the 6th chapter, and you can read it at your own time, when you have some time and you want to know how God works. You can mark it down and read it in your own time, but I will tell you the way it panned out and what was happening at that time. And the Bible goes on to say that the king of Syria is making war against Israel, and the Bible says that he makes plans to go to a place and camp there, and Elisha tells the king of Israel to stay away from that place and not to pass that place as he would be captured, and then the king of Israel's life gets saved. And this doesn't happen once. This happens twice. In fact, it does not even happen twice. It happens more than that, where the king of Syria makes a particular plan and Elisha goes and tells the king of Israel about the plan, and then the king of Israel either does not go to that place or does not pass by that place. And then he, the king of Israel, either does not go to that place or does not pass by that place, and that way the king of Syria is unable to capture the king of Israel, hallelujah. And then the Bible says the king of Syria starts getting troubled and he calls all his people together to find out if he has a spy among them. So now the king of Syria has reached a point where he thinks that there is a spy and whatever is being decided in the camp is being told to the king of Israel through through a spy, and while he gets all his people together and he's, you know, insinuating that there's a spy, I want to tell you that the king gets told, the king gets taught, the king gets teached, as my three-year-old would say, that there's a man, a man of God, and his name is Elisha hallelujah. And so they tell the king of Syria that this servant, the servant of God, elisha, that he gets to know everything that is being planned by the king of Syria, even what is told in secret, is revealed to Elisha by God, is revealed to Elisha by God, oh hallelujah, oh hallelujah.
Speaker 1:And the king of Syria and I'm just letting my imagination run here and take over the king of Syria must be sitting and thinking what this is unheard of. How is this even possible? Everything that I think, everything that I say, everything that is said behind closed doors, god is revealing to Elisha. And then, in a fit of rage, he turns to his, to his people, he turns to his servants. He turns to his servants, he turns to his advisors and he says where is Elisha? Let's go get him. So let's go see where he is, that I may send and get him. The Bible says that I may send and get him. The bible says and it is reported to the king at that time that elisha is staying in a place called dothan.
Speaker 1:And listen to what the bible says happens next, and I'm reading to you directly from second kings, the sixth chapter, the 14th verse, and I'm reading to you directly from 2 Kings 6, chapter 14, verse and therefore, he sent horses and chariots and a great army there and they came by night and surrounded the city. Oh Right, so the king of Syria is trying to catch the king of Israel and take over his land, and everything that he plans is being told to the king of Israel through a man of God called Elisha. Everything that has been planned, everything that is happening behind closed doors, everything that is war strategies, is being told openly to the king of Israel by Elisha. And when the king of Syria finds out about this that this man of God is involved here and he gets to know everything that's being planned, god is revealing it to him. He says let's go get the man of God. And where is he? He's in a place called Dothan. And then the king of Syria decides okay, let's send. And the Bible says let's send for him, basically. And the Bible says he sent horses and chariots and a great army and they surround the city of Dothan by night. That's for one man, elisha. That's how clear the king of Syria wanted to remove Elisha as a problem.
Speaker 1:Anyway, let me tell you about what's happening with Elisha at this moment. At this time when this is happening, the Bible says that Elisha had a servant with them. His name was I would like to pronounce it as Gehazi or Gehazai. And it so happens that that morning Gehazi the servant arose early, the Bible says and he went out of the house where they were staying, so just the two of them in the city Dothan, it's Gehazi and Elisha and he might have had, you know, routine things to do, he might have had chores. And he gets up to start his day and when he goes out of the home, he sees that there's an army surrounding the city with horses and chariots, and Gehazi runs to Elisha and he says alas, master, what shall we do? And you should, of course, picture this where Elisha is inside the room, he inside the house, he probably doesn't even know what's happening.
Speaker 1:And Gehazi goes out and he comes back running in and he's telling him, he's explaining the situation, then like, look we just, we're surrounded on all fronts. Master, alas, what shall we do? Yeah, it is a scary situation, isn't it? There's nowhere to go. An entire army has surrounded the city and it's just two people.
Speaker 1:And then Elisha answers Gehazi, hallelujah. And I'm reading to you from 2 Kings 6, 16, verse onwards. So he answered. That is, elisha answered. Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them, oh hallelujah.
Speaker 1:And then see what happens next. Elisha prayed and said Lord I pray, open his eyes, lord, that he may see. And the Bible says then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man and he saw and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. Oh hallelujah, oh hallelujah, oh hallelujah, and oh hallelujah. And Elisha is telling Gehazi oh, don't fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them. There's an army that's come there and has surrounded Dothan and Elisha, might I add in my lingo, is in chill mode. And he tells Gehazi don't worry, those who are with us are mourn and those who are with them don't worry, don't fear. And then he talks to God and he says Lord, I pray, open his eyes and he may see. And the Lord opened his eyes and Gehazi saw the mountain surrounding Dothan was full of horses and chariots of fire. Oh hallelujah, oh hallelujah. I want to tell you that the Lord opened Gehazi's spiritual eyes and Gehazi saw what the Lord had done for Elisha. Gehazi saw what the Lord does for his faithful Hallelujah. And I'm not going to go to the end of the story, but I'll just tell you that well, let's just say it went in the favor of the King of Israel and, of course, there was nothing that would touch Elisha and Gehazi.
Speaker 1:But today I want to take you to a beautiful Psalm, after sharing the story with you, psalm 46.8, and you can mark it down in your Bibles or in your apps, whatever you're using. Psalm 46.8 says Come behold the works of the Lord, who has made desolations in the earth. Desolations for me in the scripture is what God did while dealing with Egypt, while dealing with Sodom and Gomorrah. And then this passage goes on to say in Psalms 46, 9,. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth. He breaks the bow and cuts the spear into, he burns the chariot in the fire. Hallelujah, the Lord makes wars cease. He breaks the bow and cuts the spear into, he burns the chariot in the fire. And what I'd like to tell you this is is nothing else, but anything that's not from him comes to an end, hallelujah, he breaks it, he destroys it, he will burn it down.
Speaker 1:And then Psalm 46.10, and this is for you this beautiful morning, aligned to the story of Elisha and Gehazi, who spiritual eyes were opened, the Lord is telling you and me this morning in from Psalm 46, 10 be still and know that I am God. Oh, hallelujah, be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted amongst the nations. I will be exalted in the earth, amen, hallelujah. Oh, be still and know that he is your God and he will be exalted amongst the nations. He will be exalted in the earth because you will stand as a declaration for the truth that the king of kings, the Lord of lords, has done this for you. Oh, hallelujah, be, stand your ground, don't make a move, and you will see his salvation, hallelujah.
Speaker 1:Elisha, of course, knew it. He just knew it. And, as I said in my lingo, there's a reason why he was in complete chill mode. He just knew what. There's nothing that can even come next to me, lord, just open his spiritual eyes that he may see. I want to tell you this morning that you might not have your spiritual eyes open to see it, but what God did for Elisha and Gehazi, he will do for you too. This morning he will. We need to understand. The Bible says he is the same yesterday, today and forevermore. And your story and my story is very different from Elisha. We have been purchased by a very, very heavy price. We have been purchased by the blood of the Lamb. We have been purchased by the blood of Jesus. Oh, and what he did for Elisha, oh, he will do for you and me.
Speaker 1:And you might be at a crossroad, maybe in your workplace this morning, I'm not sure. Maybe it's an important decision that you need to take, both personally and professionally. Stand still and know that he is God. He is in that situation, with you. You might be starting something brand new. You might be stepping into an arena that you are not familiar with. A new project, maybe a new endeavor, and maybe people have even told you don't even go there, don't try it. Stand still, according to God's word. Stand still. And maybe people have even told you don't even go there, don't try it. Stand still, according to God's word. Stand still. God is going to bring everything perfectly into place and just lay it before you, hallelujah.
Speaker 1:You may be dealing with an impossible situation at hand. I don't know what it might be. It might be like you feel the walls are closing in on you From all fronts. Do not worry, do not fear. Stand still and you will see his salvation, hallelujah. Maybe you're dealing with a health situation. Maybe you need a financial breakthrough. Whatever the situation might be it might be any kind of a situation I want to tell you.
Speaker 1:The Bible says nothing is impossible with God. And this beautiful morning, aligned with the story of Elisha and Gehazi, and through the word of God, through Psalm, this beautiful Psalm, whatever it might be, stand still and know that he is God and he is your father, and you cannot even fathom the things he will do for you. As I said, he is the same. The Bible says the same yesterday, today and forever more. Oh, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.
Speaker 1:Hallelujah, leave your situation at his feet. Leave your situation at his feet, hallelujah, and he will come through. He is your Lord, he is your master. Oh, he is the one who has already paid that price for you. Oh, he will not leave you. No, forsake you. He will come riding down from the clouds, as the Bible says, and he will storm through your situation and he will just smash you to smithereens and align everything, just to be right for you.
Speaker 1:Hallelujah, dear lord, I thank you for this beautiful word. I thank you for your double-edged sword. Does not go back until it has achieved what it has been set out for lord. I thank you for your beautiful promise, a beautiful promise from psalm 46, 10 and Lord, this morning we will be still and we will see your salvation, lord. You will be exalted in the earth. You will be exalted amongst all the nations, lord, and we leave our situations into your hands.
Speaker 1:On whatever the situation might be, lord, your word says nothing is impossible with you, lord, and we claim that promises beautiful morning and whatever the situation might be long, we just leave it at your feet. Your word says you will go ahead and make every crooked path straight, lord, and we we thank you for that. Lord. We thank you that you're faithful, ever so faithful to us in all our situations. Lord, thank you for this beautiful time. Lord, thank you for your beautiful presence. Thank you, lord, for some people can feel your presence, some people will see the change in the situation as of right now, lord, thank you. Lord, in Jesus name, I pray, amen, thank you.
