The Everlasting Covenant

Subir Joshua Gorey Season 3 Episode 8

We are God's creation and were made in His image, meant to have a relationship with God.

Time and again, whenever humanity turned away, God intervened to correct the course - until one final act that secured for us all, an everlasting covenant with Him.

Join us this week to truly understand the depth of that act and how it changes everything for us today.

”Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,“

- Ephesians‬ ‭1‬:‭2‬-‭3‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

Speaker 1:

this morning I'm reading from the word of god and I'm reading from the book of genesis, the first chapter, the 26th verse onwards. I'm reading to you directly from the beginning of time in the Bible and I'm reading from 26th verse onwards that says then God said let us make man in our image, in according, according to our likeness, and let them rule over the flesh of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps. God created man in his own image, in the image of God. He created him male and female. He created them, god blessed them and God said to them be fruitful and and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves on the earth. Hallelujah. I'm reading to you from creation and I want to tell you that creation, after God created, the Bible says. I read to you from the 26th verse onwards and before that it actually talks about God creating the heavens and the earth. He created light. Then the Bible says he separated the light from the darkness and he called it morning and evening. The Bible says that. Separated the light from the darkness and he called it morning and evening. The Bible says that. And he called dry land into existence, he separated the waters from it and he called it earth and sea. And then he called vegetation onto the earth, which is plants and trees, and then he created light For the seasons On planet earth. Then he created stars and then sea creatures, birds of the seasons On planet earth. Then he created stars and then sea creatures, birds of the air and beasts of the ground and everything that crawls. And then it comes to the 26th verse when it says he created man and woman, creating us in his image, in his likeness, hallelujah. And I want to tell you that. Then he calls out the dominion of man and woman on the planet, saying that you will rule over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air and the cattle on the ground and everything that crawls. But I want to tell you that was the original plan. And then, after that, everything changed Because disobedience happened. There was a fruit. That was the original plan. And then, after that, everything changed because disobedience happened. There was a fruit that was not supposed to be eaten off, the forbidden fruit, and man and woman ate from it, as God had told them not to do, and then they were removed from the Garden of Eden.

Speaker 1:

The Bible says but I'm just telling you that after this, you know, the Bible has you know, an entire lineage of who is born through who and basically a family tree of who Adam and Eve and then, basically, the earth is populated through man and woman. There's a point that the bible talks about, you know, god not being happy with the earth and not being happy with mankind, because what he made he was not happy with it and things that they were doing on the planet, and the bible says very clearly that there was corruption and violence and god was not happy and decided to remove man from the planet. Wow, that can be scary, but it's in the bible, and I want to tell you that it's in the sixth chapter of Genesis, in case you ever want to check it, that the bible talks about violence and the corruption of man that made God angry. And this is where we know that a flood happens. Some of you know, some of you might not know, but through the lineage of Adam and Eve is a family through a man called Noah. And God decides to come to Noah and tell him to build an ark. And he tells him that you take your family, because I've picked your family, you're the only righteous family that's on the planet. So you take your family and you take each animal in pairs one male and one female and you build an ark and you take everyone into the ark.

Speaker 1:

And god even tells noah that I will send rain on the earth for 40 days and 40 nights. And I want to tell you that the bible even says that before that the earth had never seen rain. God used to water the vegetation from the ground up, so he used to send water from the ground to water the plants. And God asked Noah, as I said, to make an ark. And as he told him what happened, it rained for 40 days and 40 nights, like the earth had never seen rain before. The bible says and sadly, all flesh on the planet was destroyed besides Noah, his family and all the living creatures on the ark. That's really sad, but, as I said, it's the way that things panned out in the Bible. It's what happened.

Speaker 1:

And then the Bible goes on to say that the flood subsided, of course Noah sends a bird out to see, if you know, whether there's land. He could not see if there's land and the bird comes back. And the Bible says he sends out the bird again and comes back. And finally, when he sends it out once, it comes back with a leaf, which means now there's vegetation on the planet. So he knows that. Ok, now it's time to settle down somewhere and open the ark and go out. And basically the Bible says that when the flood subsided, noah and his family came out of the ark.

Speaker 1:

And let me tell you the first thing they do they build an altar. Noah makes an altar, the bible says and he made a sacrifice to god of all the clean animals. And the bible says the lord smelled the soothing aroma and made an everlasting covenant to never destroy flesh on planet, on the planet or any other living creature through water. Hallelujah, it's in the bible. So Noah comes out and he builds an altar there and he makes a sacrifice to God of the clean animals. I don't know what's a clean animal, I'm not getting into that, but you know there were laws that God had set, so it must have been one of those that he picked as per the law that was given to him. And the Bible says it says it so beautifully that the Lord smelt the soothing aroma of a sacrifice.

Speaker 1:

And then he decided that I will never again flood the earth or destroy flesh or any living creature through water. And I'm reading it to you from the book of Genesis, the eight chapter, the 22nd verse, 21st verse onwards the Lord smelled the soothing aroma and the Lord said to himself I will never again curse the ground on account of man, for the intent of man's heart is evil from his youth, and I will never again destroy every living thing as I have done. While the earth remains sea time and harvest, cold and heat, heat, summer and winter, day and night will not cease. Amen, hallelujah. So he makes a covenant with mankind that he will. He makes a covenant actually with himself. He says to himself that I will never again destroy flesh through water.

Speaker 1:

And while the earth remains, god's word says while the earth remains seed time and harvest, harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will not cease. So any scientist can tell you anything. I can tell you that there will always be a winter, there will always be a summer, there will always be heat, there will always be cold as long as the earth remains, as per God's word. And then the Bible says he set a rainbow in the sky. So, in case you didn't know this, the rainbow in the sky is a covenant between him and all flesh that he will never again destroy the earth with water. Praise God, in case you didn't know that that's what a rainbow is, and I want to tell you that Noah and his family then multiply on the earth and the planet goes on and yet again, man and woman forget about God and yet again the Bible says God is angry with the planet and there are instances of, you know, destroying Sodom and Gomorrah, which you heard of last time. But after that that, something very different happens, and that's what I want to bring to your attention this morning.

Speaker 1:

After that, he sends his son, and I told you last week you heard about a negotiation, and I want to tell you that a negotiation was made for you and for me by Jesus. Hallelujah, hallelujah. And John 3.16 says For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him will not perish and have eternal life. For God did not send his son to the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. Oh hallelujah. So you see, it's a repeat of the older times that god again is not happy with mankind and he's already declared remember, the bible says that the word of god is forever. And he's already declared that man from youth is evil. It's not my words, okay, it's the word of god and it's not. Uh, he didn't intend it to be that way, it just it so happened. And that's why he told him not to eat of that forbidden fruit, because he knew that is what was going to happen. Anyway, I'm not going back into that because we can't change that.

Speaker 1:

So, though he was angry, this time he makes a negotiation and this time he decides you know what? Wait, wait, I'm going to send my son, for anyone who's a parent will know that that's a very difficult sacrifice to make. Noah just took from the animals on the boat or the ark, and he made a sacrifice, and for God the Bible says, a wonderful aroma. But then, the second time around, he decides that the earth is going in the same direction and this time the sacrifice has to be made by him. And, as I said, that negotiation now is being done by Jesus on our behalf, and I don't think that would have been a good sacrifice for any father to watch. But yet he sends his son down on this planet. And then, which is why John 3.16 says that he loved the world so much that he sent his son that whoever believes in him will not perish and have eternal life. And he did not send his son to condemn the world, instead to save it through him. Hallelujah. What a sacrifice. The world instead to save it through him. Hallelujah. What a sacrifice.

Speaker 1:

And I want to tell you, just as Noah offered a sacrifice of good animals, the bible says to God at an altar, and God accepted that soothing aroma as a sacrifice and he made a promise to mankind to never again destroy mankind. This time around, god makes an everlasting covenant with mankind and he made a promise to mankind to never again destroy mankind. This time around, god makes an everlasting covenant with mankind through his son, and I want to tell you it's a blood covenant. It's not just any covenant, it's a blood covenant of the most precious thing that he had with him. And he sent him down on the planet and he sealed that promise now with mankind with the blood of Jesus. Oh, hallelujah, hallelujah. I want to tell you there never has been and there never will be anything bigger on this planet than what happened on that cross. There is no history that can fathom what was done on that cross for you and me. Hallelujah. And I want to tell you that Ephesians 1, 2 and 3 says grace to you and peace from God, our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Speaker 1:

Blessed be the God and the Father of our Lord, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. Hallelujah, blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. Hallelujah, hallelujah. Every spiritual blessing in the Bible, every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places is yours. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians everything is yea and amen Through him. Hallelujah, everything is yea and amen through him. The Bible says everything will pass, but my word shall not pass, and if you know his word, I will tell you.

Speaker 1:

The Bible is a love story between man and god, or rather it's between god and man, where the final act of love is he decides to send his son and after what he did, on on the planet for us, and that's the only reason why I'm relating it to what happened before and how. God was unhappy with the earth and he destroyed it and he saved only noah. Jesus negotiated you can't, I don't know what that negotiation would be like and I wouldn't. God was unhappy with the earth and he destroyed it and he saved only Noah. Jesus negotiated you can't. I don't know what that negotiation would be like and I wouldn't want to go there. But I want to tell you that Jesus negotiated for the whole of mankind, saying that anyone, father, anyone who would just put their faith in me, let's do something like that. Hallelujah. And God agreed and he sent his son down to die on a cross. Hallelujah, hallelujah.

Speaker 1:

And because of that, everything is yeah and everything is in his name. Everything that's in the bible is aligned to you and through what he did on the cross, I want to tell you this morning it's just very simple. You just have to put your complete faith in Jesus. It's a new covenant. The covenants of old are gone, the rules of old are gone, the sacrifices of old are gone. It's a new covenant and it's a blood covenant. A blood covenant is the deepest form of covenant that can ever happen and I want to tell you put your faith in Jesus.

Speaker 1:

This beautiful morning, in the new covenant, and I want to tell you and this is for someone in particular over here this morning and that is I don't know, I don't know who it is for, but in your current situation, that it is, and as I said already this morning, that everything is yea and amen and lying to you through the word of God, the Bible says in 2nd Timothy 1.7 for God has not given you a spirit of timidity, but a power and love and discipline hallelujah, I don't know who you are, but that's for you. And discipline, hallelujah. I don't know who you are, but that's for you. And you can mark it down 2 Timothy 1.7. That says For God has not given you a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline. And it is aligned to you if you put your faith in Jesus, and for those of you who have put your faith in Jesus, and for those of you who have put your faith in Jesus and what was done on that cross, and you know who he is to you. For some he's just a name, for some of you he's a savior, no-transcript. But I want to tell you this morning, aligned with the word of God, aligned with the sacrifice that Jesus made on that cross, that everything is yea and amen in his name, and if you have put your faith in him and your complete trust in him because I know some of you have and this is the blessing aligned to the word of God for you this morning.

Speaker 1:

From Isaiah 60. 60 chapter, the first verse that says arise, shine, for your light has come and the glory of God has risen upon you. Hallelujah, for behold, darkness will cover the earth and deep darkness the peoples, but the Lord will rise upon you and his glory will appear upon you and His glory will appear upon you. Hallelujah, amen. Beautiful. I'd like to read it again, and this is for those and this is what Jesus came on this planet to do for you and me, and you should understand this.

Speaker 1:

It was a deep, difficult sacrifice to send His Son down. He loved the world and he sent His Son. And aligned to that because you have put your faith in Him. For difficult sacrifice to send his son down. He loved the world and he sent his son, and align to that because you have put your faith in him. For some of you, he is your all in all, and you'd know Again, isaiah 61 says Arise, shine, for your light has come and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. For behold, darkness will cover the earth and deep darkness the people. But the Lord will rise upon you and His glory will appear upon you. Hallelujah, hallelujah.

Speaker 1:

No matter what happens on the planet, understand this very clearly the Lord is with you. And no matter what happens on the planet, understand this very clearly the Lord is with you. And no matter what happens, the whole earth might be covered in darkness and just like the whole earth drowned, the Lord shone upon Noah and his family and he will shine upon you and he will rise up and his glory will appear upon you. In this week, you will have people who will come and say what's happening with you? Arise, shine, the light of God has come upon you. Jesus is upon you. Hallelujah, and this is for someone here the smallest one will become a clan. Amen. And this is for someone here the smallest one will become a clan, amen. And the least will become a mighty nation, amen. I, the Lord, will hasten it in its time. Hallelujah. I want to tell you God loves you. It is a beautiful morning. He sent his son down on this planet. For you. It was a difficult sacrifice. It was a beautiful morning. He sent his son down on this planet for you. It was a difficult sacrifice. It was a tough, tough sacrifice. Anyone who is a parent will know that that's not a sacrifice that anyone can make. But, as I said, jesus negotiated hard for you and then he came down on this planet and he took up an excruciating death on a cross and he was nailed to a cross and they put a crown of thorns in his head and they whipped him and they mocked him and they spat on him that he may have his light shine upon those who always put his faith in him. Hallelujah, some of you are feeling God's presence and I want to tell you that you have been handpicked by God. Don't think that you have picked him. He has picked you and he negotiated hard for you and, after negotiating hard for you, he went all the way and he took up a cross and he died on it and he rose on the third day, because that was the plan and because of that, everything is he, and amen in his name, to you, to those who put their faith in him. It's a beautiful day. Make a decision, close that door and decide that you will talk to Jesus. He's a good shepherd who laid down his life for you and me and go talk to him. Ask him to enter your life today, ask him to to come into your home, ask him to take control. Leave everything at his feet. Though you think he might not be able to do it, he will do everything for you. He loves you. Hallelujah, let us pray. Dear Lord, I thank you for this beautiful time. Lord, I thank you for your double-edged sword that does not go back until it has achieved what it has been set out for. Lord, I thank you for being obedient to death, and death on a cross only for us. I thank you, lord, because of what you have done. All your blessings in the Bible are yea and amen and are lying to us through you. I thank you, lord, that you are looking at those who have stood up for you and you know them by name. You have their name written on the palm of your hand. That you are looking at those who have stood up for you and you know them by name. You have their name written on the palm of your hand and I thank you, lord, that right now, as released and as your word. You are watching over your word to perform it. Isaiah 61 that says Arise, shine for your people. The time has come, lord, your light has come and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you and you will rise upon them, lord. Lord, darkness might cover the earth and deep darkness the entire nations, but the Lord, you, yeshua, will rise upon them and your glory will appear on them. Thank you, lord. Thank you, lord, that one of the smallest ones will become a clan and the least a on them. Thank you, lord. Thank you, lord, that one of the smallest ones will become a clan and the least a mighty nation. And you, o Father, o Creator, o beautiful Savior, glorious Lord, will hasten it. You will hasten it in your time and your people will see it and they will know that it is you. Amen. Thank you, lord, for this beautiful time, for your beautiful, beautiful presence that people can feel and they know it's you. Thank you, lord. In Jesus' name, I pray Amen.
