Speaker 1:

Today I want to start and get straight into the word of God. I want to tell you that today I'm going to talk to you about one of my most favorite prophets in the Bible, at least. I'm going to talk to you about one of my most favorite prophets in the bible, at least I'm going to start with that. And, in case you didn't know, it's prophet elijah hallelujah, and I want to tell you that he was a. He was a powerful prophet of god. I want to tell you that some of the things that god did through elijah were unbelievable. To tell you that some of the things that God did through Elijah were unbelievable, in fact, even how, the way that God worked, the things at the time when Elijah was on the planet, and how God worked around them is truly amazing and I can share. I will share some of that with you today. I will share some of that with you today. I want to tell you and start with the fact that the Bible talks about Elijah in the book of Kings, in the Old Testament, the book of Kings, the 17 chapters, the first time that Elijah's name comes in the Bible, and I want to tell you he's elijah, the tishbite, which is, uh, the place that the person would come from would always be the second aspect of their name. So he's elijah, the tishbite from the race that he comes from, and I want to tell you he was a man of god at the time of a king ahab, who was from israel, the king of Israel at the time, and Elijah was an obedient. He was a very obedient man, a man of God and following God's instructions to the T. In fact, I'll tell you, in the Bible actually talks about Elijah the first time. It starts with him calling out a famine in the land, and you have to hear this because it is through his words that a famine hits Israel. And you have to hear this. I'm going to read it out to you from first kings, the 17th chapter, the first verse. It says as the Lord, god of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word, oh hallelujah. Wow, he was a powerful man of God. I'm reading it again to you and you will get it as the Lord, god of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word, oh hallelujah. That means Elijah is telling and, by the way, he's talking to the king. He's telling him that until I release the word of rain, it will not come hallelujah. And I want to tell you that after this, this is how Elijah is actually mentioned in the bible. This is the first time he even speaks and after this, he has a very rocky journey.

Speaker 1:

I want to tell you that he is constantly on the run. He is constantly running and let me tell you, he is running for his life. He is not just running, and I know some of you sometimes feel that you're in that place where you are running for your life. Some of you feel that you're running from this thing which you're finding difficult, and maybe that's the reason why I'm sharing the story with you this morning, and maybe that's the reason why I'm sharing the story with you this morning. But, coming back to it, he's constantly on the run and during his time in Israel, I want to tell you, with King Ahab at the helm, every prophet of God is killed, every prophet, and the only one who's left is Elijah, and that's the reason why he's running, and I want to tell you that God takes him from one place to another. He's constantly moving him around because he's he's running from King Ahab I'll come back to that because there's a different story there, actually, and there are times when the Bible says that he feeds him.

Speaker 1:

So ravens, hallelujah. The Bible says the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from a brook that was nearby hallelujah. Some of you are thinking how is God going to work in this situation of mine. And he drank from a brook that was nearby, hallelujah. Some of you are thinking how is God going to work in this situation of mine? Exactly how God worked in this situation of Elijah he fed him through ravens. Don't miss the fact that he gave him meat too, not just bread, hallelujah. And he rang from the brook, hallelujah. And then there are times.

Speaker 1:

I'd like to give you some snippets of Elijah's life, because some of the stuff he did was absolutely amazing. And after this particular instance of God feeding him through ravens, both times of the day, meat and bread there's a time when God tells him to go to a particular place and he will meet a widow there, and he goes and he meets the widow and he tells the widow in fact, god tells him ask the widow for food. And this is how ironic it is, because this is how God works. And he goes and ask the widow for food. And this is how ironic it is because this is how God works. And he goes and he asked the widow for food and the widow says I just have a little flour and a little oil and I'm going to make one cake of bread and my son and I are going to eat it and die Because there was a famine on the land, which Elijah only called onto the land. This is how God works.

Speaker 1:

And nevertheless, elijah says make a bread first from that portion for me and give it to me. And he tells her your flour will not run out, neither will the oil run dry until God sends rain upon the land of Hallelujah. And let me tell you, the widow I don't know what kind of a widow she was, I mean this is amazing. I would not do it. Actually, maybe I would, but I would battle this a lot so she makes a cake of bread for him first and gives it to him from the flour and the oil that she has left. And the Bible says the widow's flour and oil did not run out during the famine, hallelujah. And in fact it's after that that the same son that she's referring to, he in fact dies and Elijah even raises her son from the dead. I'm not getting into that story, that's a story for another time.

Speaker 1:

And then there's a time after that when elijah, as I said, he's constantly running, god is constantly moving him from one place to the other, and there's a time when I I know that I've shared this before where elijah calls down fire from heaven in front of 450 prophets of Baal and 400 prophets of Asherah, and it's a challenge that he takes when he's the only prophet alive. And the reason why I'm sharing these stories is for you to understand the way God works. God is making him run from place to place, but he also makes him come out and stand in front of everyone when the time is right Hallelujah. So, even though Elijah is running through the whole book of his life that he's there until some certain things happen, there's this time when he comes out and God calls him out in the open and says he basically tells him to challenge the prophets of Baal and Asherah and he calls down fire from heaven with all of them as witness, and the Bible even says, with Israel standing there as witness Hallelujah. The same Elijah who called the famine on the land is the same person who also prays for the drought to end. Immediately after this, he goes on to another mountain and he puts his head between his knees and he prays and rain comes down on the land, hallelujah.

Speaker 1:

And there's another story which I never knew. I never came across it. Actually, there's a time when Elijah I said KG Ahab is always after him and Elijah destroys 50 soldiers and their captain. The Bible says Twice over he sends 50 soldiers with a captain to capture Elijah and Elijah calls on fire on them. Hallelujah. He does it twice, in fact the third time. The Bible even says that the king again sends 50 soldiers and one captain and the captain says Lord Elijah, please spare our lives. We've seen what you've done to the other 100. So please spare our lives. Hallelujah.

Speaker 1:

Elijah parted the Jordan and walks through it on dry ground, hallelujah. And after all this, you have to hear this God tells Elijah to anoint Azazel as king over Syria. And you have to pay attention. This is beautiful and this is how God works, and that's why I'm here to share this this morning. God tells Elijah to anoint somebody by the name of Hazael as king over Syria and anoint Jehu, the son of Nimshi, as king over Israel and wait for it. And Eisha, the son of shafaq, you shall anoint as prophet in your place, oh, hallelujah. So god even tells him that you're going to anoint a prophet in your place instead of you. He's even telling him that, as clear as that. And listen to this.

Speaker 1:

I'm reading it out to you from the book of Kings, 19th chapter, the 17th verse. And it shall be. It shall be, not might, may, maybe when the sun is out? No, no, it shall be that whoever escapes the sword of Hazael, which is in Syria, jehu will kill who is in Israel. And whoever escapes the sword of Jehu, elisha will kill. Hallelujah, elisha is just a man, he's a man of God, and Jehu and Hazael are kings. But God has planned it all through, from Syria down to Egypt, all the way down to one man, if it needs to be, hallelujah.

Speaker 1:

And as I said, said elijah is such a beautiful, beautiful prophet of god, such a powerful man, such an obedient man, that he goes ahead and he anoints elijah as prophet in his place. And the bible says god takes elijah from the earth in a chariot of fire with horses of fire. And the bible says elijah went into heaven in a whirlwind right in front of elisha hallelujah. You know I can get into stories of elishaa too, but I just don't have the time today because I want to get into the crux of today's word. Imagine this was not even the crux and this is for some of you.

Speaker 1:

First, I want to tell you God works in ways you cannot even imagine. Know that, believe that, understand that this morning, that if God picked Elijah and fed him through ravens and made him run through the whole of Israel from place to place, from point to point, just to come out at one time to challenge 850 prophets and the whole of Israel as one individual 150 prophets and the whole of Israel as one individual I want to tell you this morning the Bible says he's the same yesterday, today and forevermore. He's not a respecter of people and he works in ways you cannot even imagine. And I'm coming back to the topic of King Ahab, when Elijah was in Israel at the time of King Ahab, I want to tell you that Ahab had a wife whose name was Jezebel and she was the one who was whispering in the ears of Ahab to kill all the prophets of God, and she is the one who brought the Phoenician. I won't call them gods, but she brought them into Existence in Israel. And that's how the whole of Israel started Worshipping Baal and Asherah. And there were prophets For Baal and Asherah, but no prophets of the living God. The only one left was Elijah. So you see how the pieces Of the jigsaw All add up, but God just saved one. He just saved one, hallelujah.

Speaker 1:

And as I mentioned at a time earlier, when Elijah was running, I want to tell you this, and this is the crux of the word for today, that there's a time when God guides him. God is always guiding him. I'm sorry, let me correct myself, but there's a time when God guides him. God is always guiding him. I'm sorry, let me correct myself, but there's this one time where he takes him to a particular place. I told you he fed him through ravens. And there's a time oh, there's a beautiful time. How could I miss this? There's a beautiful time when God sends an angel down, and there's a time when Elijah has given up. He sits under a tree and he looks at God and he says take my life, lord. Can you believe that and this is, after all of this that God has done through him, so you can only imagine the weight that Elijah must have been carrying.

Speaker 1:

He sits under a tree and he says Lord, take my life. And he falls into a deep sleep. And there's an angel that comes to him and wakes him up and says eat. And the bible says there's fresh bread made on stones, hallelujah. And he eats that and he goes back to sleep and the angel wakes him up again and says eat, the journey is long, eat again. And he eats again the bread that's made, cooked on stones. And he gets up and then he goes back to sleep and then the lord wakes him up and sends him on a journey. 40 days and 40 nights. The bible says there's something about 40 days and 40 nights. Well, that food that he ate was enough and sufficient for 40 days and 40 nights, for the journey that he has to make.

Speaker 1:

And I want to tell you that he makes him go on this journey, and I'll come back to the story. I'm leaving the story here and I will come back to it, and now I'm going to my most favorite person of all times. And now I'm going to my most favorite person of all times and that's Jesus. I'm going to the New Testament and I'm reading to you directly from the word of God, from the book of Matthew 7. Matthew 7, chapter 7, verse onwards, and Jesus' words and this is, as I said, the crux of the matter today ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find. Knock and it will be opened to you. Amen For everyone who asks, receives and he who seeks, finds. And to him who knocks, it will be opened. Amen, hallelujah. And to him who knocks, it will be opened. Amen, hallelujah.

Speaker 1:

What a beautiful, all-encompassing, reassuring passage of scripture. Matthew, the seventh chapter, the seventh and eighth verse. In fact, the amplified version says ask and keep on asking, because you might not get your answer the first time. It's beautiful seek and keep on seeking, knock and keep on knocking and the door will be open to you. And that's not all. The eighth verse says for everyone who asks, receives, and he who seeks finds and he who knocks, the door will be open. And the amplified version says for everyone who keeps on asking will receive, who keeps on seeking will find, and the one who keeps on knocking, it will be open to them. Hallelujah, that means whoever you are, no matter where you come from, what's your background, if, if you know Jesus and you've put him at the, at the front end of your life, and when you ask you will receive, and when you seek you will find. And when you knock, that door will be opened. It's so specific the door will be opened. But yes, at times you might have to keep on asking.

Speaker 1:

And there's a reason why I started with the story of Elijah. I'm sure Elijah would have asked at some point. It's never, it's not there in the bible. Maybe he didn't have it in him to ask, maybe he was just made of another material, but he didn't ask. When his life was being hounded, he didn't ask oh Lord, why? In fact, he asked Lord, take my life instead. That's a deep place, isn't it?

Speaker 1:

And for some of you today are thinking I don't hear his answer for me. I don't hear his answer for me. I don't hear his answer. Some of you are thinking he doesn't answer me at all. No, I want to tell you, you're mistaken and that's why I'm here. You're mistaken.

Speaker 1:

The Bible says for everyone who asks, they will receive.

Speaker 1:

For everyone who seeks, they will receive.

Speaker 1:

For everyone who seeks, they will find.

Speaker 1:

For everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

Speaker 1:

Hallelujah, I want to tell you this morning and I told you, the story of Elijah was not the crux. This is the crux. And the crux is God does hear you and I'm here to reassure you that this morning, through the word of God, these are the words of Jesus, these are not my words. Jesus is telling you this morning ask and you will receive, seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be open. God does answer you and I know at times it's difficult because we don't get our answer.

Speaker 1:

As per our timing, I told you the whole of Elijah's life. He's running and to a point where Jesus decides now, when God decides now, it's now it's time for you to come out and, by the way, after that he has to go running again. So it's in God's timing. The Bible even says there's a time for everything. And, by the way, after that he has to go running again. So it's in God's timing. The Bible even says there's a time for everything under the heavens, hallelujah. I want to tell you, elijah was running for his life and God protected him, taking him from place to place until the time was right. As I said, there's a time, even when Elijah says, lord, take my life, I don't want it anymore, and that is a deep place to be.

Speaker 1:

And remember that journey, that 40 days and 40 nights, where the angel wakes him up to feed him bread, I want to tell you that God leads Elijah to a place called Horeb. After that, it's a 40 day journey and you have to listen to this. You have to listen to this. And he leads him inside a cave at Mount Horeb. And look at the irony of this scene. It's unbelievable.

Speaker 1:

God makes Elijah run through the whole of the book of Kings. He is running and hiding and of course, god walks miraculously through him. And then he makes him come out in front of the prophets of Baal and Asherah. And then he makes him come out in front of the prophets of Baal and Asherah, and then he makes him hide again. And in the middle of all this, he starts a famine in the land through the words of Elijah. He ends the famine in the land through the words of Elijah, through the prayers of Elijah, and then he takes him on a 40-day journey to a mountain at Horeb and when he goes there, he asks him what are you doing here, elijah? I'll tell you why he asked him. He asked him because he wants to hear what Elijah has to say. And this is what Elijah has to say. He said I have been very zealous for the Lord, for the sons of Israel have forsaken your covenant, torn down your altars and killed all your prophets with the sword, and I alone am left and they seek my life to take it away. And then God says to Elijah go forth, stand at the mountain before the Lord, for, behold, I will be passing you by. Oh, hallelujah, and this is what I want to leave you with this beautiful day.

Speaker 1:

And the Bible says that there was a great storm and a great wind that was rending the mountain. Rending means breaking up the mountain into pieces, and the pieces, the bible says the mountain started breaking down into pieces and the rocks were there, but the Lord was not in the wind. And the Bible says and after the wind, there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake there was a fire. And the Bible says but the Lord was not in the fire. And first Kings 19, 12 and after the fire was still small voice, hallelujah. 1 Kings 19.12. And after the fire was still small voice, hallelujah.

Speaker 1:

And I want to tell you, it is after that that Elijah wraps his face in his mantle and he goes outside the cave to speak with God. Hallelujah. I want to tell you this beautiful morning I started with telling you through the words of Jesus also God is not in the noise. You are the children and the people of the Most High, and the Bible says, after all of that was a still small voice and god is not in the noise. I want to tell you this morning you want flamboyance, you want thunder, you want lightning, you want the wind, you want the earthquake and you want fire, but god is not in that. Of course god can do all that, but he's not in that. After all that God can do all that, but he's not in that. After all, that he will speak to you in a still small voice. He will speak with you in a small voice deep inside you, and I want to tell you, just as the words of Jesus said ask and it will be given, seek and you will find Knock and the door will be opened to you. I want to tell you that he always answers you. He always answers you, and I want to tell you that it's probably you who are being blocked out by the noise. You're blocking out his voice by the noise. Whatever it is you're seeking from him. I want to tell you he's answering you anyone, oh, I'm sorry, everyone.

Speaker 1:

The Bible says who seeks and knocks will be answered. Today, I want to tell you lock that door and block out all the noise. And this is for somebody. As he passed by Elijah, he is going to pass by you today, oh, hallelujah, so you be ready for it. He told Elijah Sit in the cave, I will come by. And he is telling somebody this morning I will come by. And he's telling somebody this morning I will come. You be ready for it. You'll hear his voice. It's the sound of many waters.

Speaker 1:

Hallelujah, seek him and he will answer you. But I want to tell you this morning and I'm here just maybe this is just for one person, maybe it's not for everyone. If it's not for you, enjoy your week, but if it is for you, I'm here just to tell you that he will answer you. If you call unto him, there is no doubt. Have no doubt about it. If you think you've been seeking him about something, continue to seek him because today, today, he will pass by. Oh, doubt about it. If you think you've been seeking him about something, continue to seek him because today, today, he will pass by. Oh, hallelujah, he did it for Elijah, he'll do it for you. Tune your ears, tune your spirit, shut that door. Talk to your father and he will answer you. Bible says and show you great and mighty things you know not.

Speaker 1:

Of Hallelujah, let us pray. Dear Lord, I thank you for this beautiful time. Lord, I thank you for your beautiful word, your double edged sword that does not go back until it has achieved what it has been set out for, lord. This beautiful morning, lord, we ask, we seek, we knock, and I line to your word, lord, that says that everyone who asks will receive, everyone who seeks will find, everyone who knocks, the door will be opened unto them. Hallelujah. Thank you, jesus, for always being there for us. Thank you, jesus for answering our Hallelujah. Thank you, jesus, for always being there for us. Thank you, jesus, for answering our prayers. Thank you, jesus, for that beautiful voice that people will hear as they seek you this day, hallelujah.

Speaker 1:

Some people are changing their hearts, lord, hallelujah. Some people are choosing to block out the noise and for some people, you are deciding to block out the noise. Hallelujah, thank you, lord, for the multiple people that you're going to pass by this beautiful day. Oh, hallelujah, be prepared, enjoy his beautiful presence. He's going to pass by, hallelujah, enjoy his presence.

Speaker 1:

Your father is going to pass by this beautiful day, oh hallelujah, thank you, jesus. Thank you, lord, that you will speak is going to pass by this beautiful day, oh, hallelujah. Thank you, jesus. Thank you, lord, that you will speak to your people, to your children, for the ones who seek you, align to your word and they will hear. They will hear your still small voice, lord. They will know it is you, small voice, love. They will know it is you and they will be joyful and radiant and know that their father has answered them. Their creator has turned his favor towards them and upon them. The abundance of the seas will be turned to them with favor. You will look upon them and their lives will change. Hallelujah, some of you, be prepared. The Lord is going to walk by this beautiful day. Shut that door, close it, talk to him and he will come. He's not a respecter of people. What he did for Elijah, he will do for you. Hallelujah, in Jesus name I pray Amen.
