The Foundation

Storms don't always reveal how strong the storm is.They reveal how strong the foundation is.

Two lives can look exactly the same from the outside, yet when the rain falls, the winds blow, and pressure comes, the outcome can be completely different.

Why?

Because everything depends on what the house is built upon.
In this episode, we reflect on one of Jesus' most powerful teachings—the parable of the wise and foolish builders. The house isn't just a building; it represents our lives, our choices, and the foundation we rely on when life gets difficult.

Jesus points us to the Rock—a foundation that cannot be shaken.

But how do we actually make Him the foundation of our lives?

John 15:4-5 NASB1995
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. i am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. 

The answer comes from Jesus Himself: it's not simply about hearing His words, but living by them. As we spend time in God's Word each day, we begin to abide in Him. Our thoughts change. Our desires are reshaped. Our prayers become aligned with His heart, and over time, our lives are built on something that no storm can destroy.

Whether you feel far from God, or you've walked with Him for years but find yourself distracted, anxious, or torn between faith and control, this episode is an invitation to return to the only foundation that will never fail.
Because storms are inevitable.
But a life built on the Rock will always stand.

Parable Of Rock And Sand

Hallelujah. Today I want to start with building a foundation. A foundation for our life on this planet. And I'm getting straight through the word of God this beautiful morning. And I want to tell you that when Jesus was here, he shared a beautiful uh story while he was speaking with his disciples, and he he spoke about a wise man and a foolish man. And some of you know the story. It comes uh in the book of Matthew, the seventh chapter. And this is when Jesus has started teaching people, he's you know telling them about the kingdom of God, he's speaking through parables, and he talks about this uh this beautiful time when he's talking about a wise man and a foolish man. And he goes on to say that the wise man builds his house upon a rock, and the foolish man builds his house upon the sand. And then he goes on to talk about how the rains come and the floods come and the winds come, strong winds that beat against the house against both the houses. So again, I'm coming back to the story. There's a foolish man, and there's a wise man that Jesus is talking about, and he talks about um, you know, the wise man building his house upon a rock, and the foolish man building his house upon the sand. And then he goes on to talk about the rains coming and the winds coming and the floods coming and beating against the house. And I want to tell you that in these two examples that he's talking about, or rather this one example with two uh uh instances, the house refers to our lives on this planet, and that's what Jesus was trying to tell. And you know, Jesus always spoke in parables, and sometimes when the people didn't understand it, he would take his disciples to the side and explain it to them because he knew that they were the ones who are going to spread his word, they are the ones who are going to spread his kingdom, they are the ones who are going to spread the good news. So, in this one, too, I want to tell you that you know, the the two houses or the two homes that he's talking about in this example are significant or symbolic to our lives on this planet. And then he talks about these, you know, these floods, these rains, and these strong winds coming and beating against the house. And that again is symbolic about the situations in life. And life throws situations away, and they come, as I said, uninformed. And they beat against the house, which means they will try and shake your foundation. And then he goes on to tell them that the foolish man's house crashed and it went down to nothing, and the strong man's house stood firm. The wise man, I'm sorry, his house stood firm. And Jesus was basically trying to tell the tell the people, tell his disciples, tell everyone who was listening to him that in these two examples, there's a foolish man and the wise man, and the deed the reason why he has differentiated the foolish man and the wise man is because the wise man built his house on a rock, and the foolish man decided to build it on the sand. And when life happens, when the storms of life come, when the flood comes, the winds come, the rain comes, and they beat against your life, the foolish man's house was destroyed. The foolish man's life was destroyed, but the wise man who built it upon a rock. Hallelujah. The wise man who built his life upon a rock, Jesus goes on to say that house should form. Jesus is an example, the foolish man's house or his life or his home was completely and utterly destroyed because he talks about the house being destroyed, and great was its fall. And as I said, it's you know, it's actually a sad thing. It's not it's not a nice thing, but hey, you know, it's the story and the parable that Jesus decided to share. And if Jesus decided to share it, clearly there is a very important significance to that, and that's what I'm here to share with you this beautiful morning. And it's the truth, whether you like it or not, there will be sand and there will be rock. And as our lives on this planet pan out, it becomes a very important example for us this beautiful morning. Because it will differentiate whether you have built your house on sand or whether you have built your house on the rock. And I'll get into you know the depth of it, but in this beautiful morning, I want to tell you that it is an absolute truth of all how of how our life on this planet will pan out from a reality standpoint, depending on where you have built your home, where you've built your life, what foundation you have decided to build it upon? Hallelujah. And as I said, it's not my example, it's Jesus' example, and you'll say, how does one build their house or their life upon a rock? Or what does Jesus actually mean when he's talking about the rock? Some of you will even ask, what is this rock and sand? It makes no sense. Why would I build my house on sand? I'm going to clarify this for you today, and that's why I'm here. And I'll clarify it through the word of God. And I want to tell you that the solution is given by Jesus Himself. You know, this story actually comes from the book of Matthew, the seventh chapter, and it's in the other gospels too. But this is the time when Jesus has just started teaching people. That's when he just started calling crowds together and speaking to them. And they're listening to him because he's teaching with authority and somebody who understands how God works. And there's his time, and I'm giving you this solution.

Jesus Gives The Missing Answer

You know, Jesus uh knows that his time has come to an end on this planet, and he's with his disciples. In fact, it's his time when he's actually having his last meal with them. And you know, just as I read the scripture from Matthew, uh, you know, the 26th chapter, this comes from the book of John. Today I'm sharing it with you from the book of John, and it goes on to say, because of course, you know, all these disciples, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, have their own version of how the story panned out, and that's what's in the gospel. So this is from the book of John, and he's actually sitting and he's talking to them, and he's having his last meal with them, and he speaks about you know the significance of the bread and the wine, he washes their feet, and then he tells them that he's about to be betrayed into the hands of those who are after him, and that his time is up. And even though he's speaking, the Bible even says that these truths are hidden from his disciples. So even though he's telling it to them, they can't understand what he's talking about. And that's his time now, where he's talking to them, and it's it's beautiful because you know, uh, you know, John is actually a very small book, the book of John. And these few instances or examples that Jesus speaks to his disciples after this you should know are very critical ones because these are his last few teachings, and he knows after this he's going to be given into the hands of men. And so some of these are really important ones because those are those last few instructions before Jesus is about to leave this planet. And this is where he gives the answer, and it's beautiful. And I pray that your hearts are open to understand the teaching that Jesus wanted to give his disciples before he left. And here it comes from the book of John, the 15th chapter, the fourth verse onwards.

Abide In Me To Bear Fruit

The book of John, the 15th chapter, the fourth verse onwards, and it says, Abide in me. Hallelujah. Abide in me and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine. Neither can you, unless you abide in me. Hallelujah. What a beautiful passage of scripture, and what a beautiful thing for Jesus to say to someone this beautiful morning to some of you, to so many of you, to his disciples, who he was about to leave on this planet before he went, he's telling them, Abide in me. And he's telling you this morning, abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine. Neither can you, unless you abide in me. Hallelujah. And I told you, Jesus gave you gave all of us the solution himself. And I told you, I'm going to give you the solution through the word of God this beautiful morning. And for some of you, might be interested in plants, might be having you know a garden of your own, and maybe you keep a few pots in the house, and you know that if there's a branch, and if you take a scissor and you cut it, that branch is gonna fall off the tree or that bush or that shrub, whatever it is that you have. And anyone knows, even if you don't have a garden, that if you take that part of the vine, now a vine is basically something that crawls along walls and you know, uh, or it just it crawls along the sides. Basically, a vine is a vine, it's attached to a main branch and it grows like a creeper. But if you take any one of those little stems and you cut them, now suddenly they're disconnected from the vine. And if you go back in a day, you'll see it in a different color. If you go back in two days, you'll see it a little shriveled. If you go back in a week, it's probably changed color. If you go back in a month, it's dead. And Jesus is telling you and me this morning, abide in me. And I in you, as that branch, if you see yourself as that branch, you cannot bear fruit unless you abide in the vine. Hallelujah. That's why he tells them, neither can you. He's telling his disciples, and he's telling you and me this morning, neither can you, unless you abide in me. Hallelujah. I want to tell you the next few words of his are so beautiful. But before I get into that, he is telling you and me this morning that we have to abide in Jesus and He in us. And I want to tell you something else. This beautiful morning, I want to tell you that no matter how many scriptures you read, and that's one of these beautiful revelations that I've had, and and you can, you know, you can analyze it a little later, not right now. Jesus is always talking about him being in you, and you being in him, not with, in hallelujah. And I'll come back to it, but without Jesus, we cannot bear fruit, is what Jesus is telling you and me this morning. And I'm going on to the next verse now. It says, uh, from John 15, 5, it goes on to say, I am the vine, you are the branches. Hallelujah. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him bears much fruit. Amen. For without me you can do nothing. Hallelujah. When Jesus abides in you and you in him, that's when you bear much fruit. Hallelujah. Because in his words, in the creator's words, in the master's words, without him, you can do nothing. Hallelujah. And yes, I know there are some of you who say, Well, I've done a lot without Jesus. I've achieved a lot without Jesus. Yeah, well, that's on you. As I said, I'm here to share the word of God. And I will tell you. Because the example that Jesus is giving is, as I said, not just for this planet, it is also for a later period. And I'll get into that shortly. But as I give you that example of that little branch that sticks to that vine, Jesus says, He is the vine, and you are the branches, and that's why you need to stick to him. Because when you stick to him and you abide in him, and he abides in you, you can bear much fruit. Much fruit. Jesus doesn't say fruit, he says much fruit. And the way I'd like to see it is in life we have so many things going on. We have so many things going on. If I ask some of you, you'll say half an hour. I don't know if I have half an hour to give someone 15 minutes, let me check my calendar. Well, that's how busy we are. I'm not blaming you this morning. We all are busy. Basically, what I'm trying to tell you is if you can give that time to Jesus, that's how much time you're nurturing your branch into that vine. Or without that vine, you can do nothing. Hallelujah. In the words of Jesus, without me, you can't do nothing. And before I, you know, summarize this entire piece that Jesus is talking about, I'd like to go a little deeper into what he says next. It says, if anyone does not abide in me, now this is for those. If you have some alternate thoughts in your head, he's cast out as a branch and is withered. And they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. I want to tell you that life that does not have Jesus attached to it will be cast out and will be withered. I gave you the example of that small little creeper that's going in its own way and it gets cut from the vine. And some of you right now are thinking, I don't even know Jesus. I think I'm doing pretty well for my life. And I want to tell you this beautiful morning. In the words of Jesus, it's sad, but it's true. The life that does not have Jesus attached to it will be cast out and withered. And I don't want to pay too much attention to it because I'm here to give you good news. And that's not the best thing to happen to anyone on this planet or this life. But it's not just as I told you for this life, it's even for the afterlife. It's symbolic of the afterlife as well. And then he goes on to give you the super secret. In John 15, 7, he says, If you abide in me and my words abide in you, Amen. If you abide in me, hallelujah, and my words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. Amen. Hallelujah. If you abide in me and my words abide in you, you will ask what you desire and it shall be done for you. Hallelujah. You see, Jesus has given you a clear, very clear example of how it needs to work for our lives on this planet. He's given you here the true solution of how do you build your life on the rock. Hallelujah. His word is beautiful. His word is your rock. If you abide in me and my words abide in you. Hallelujah. Of course, and you know, heart's desires is one of the smallest things that uh I'd like to say is in God's dictionary. Because he says your heart's desires. I think our desires are very small compared to what God has in mind for us. But as I said, our world, uh, you know, our mind is limited to our worldly knowledge. We think that, you know, you know, a little probe going into Mars or whichever planet we've reached now is ultimate science. It's not. It's his word says that our wisdom is foolishness in front of the creator. Hallelujah. And it's the truth. What is a small little satellite going to a planet to the creator of heaven and earth? It's nothing. What is it to that one whose earth is his footstool? It's nothing. Hallelujah. So our desires to him will be nothing. And he's like, but for good measure, I'll give it to you. If my words abide in you, hallelujah. And I want to tell you, for our journey on this planet, we need to know the word of God, and that's the solution. That is the rock. We need to be attached to Jesus. It's very important. And you say, How do I do that? I tell you, it's very simple. You know, there's a word, and I'm not getting into it because I've shared it many times, but I'll share it with you again this morning.

Open The Door To Jesus

He says, Behold, I stand at the door and I knock. Hallelujah. Some of you can feel his presence this morning. And I want to tell you, Jesus is telling you this morning, Behold, I stand at the door and I knock. And anyone, anyone, anyone who opens the door, I will come in and I will sup with him and I will be with him, and he will be in me. I will be in him, the Bible says. And this beautiful morning, I want to tell you, you'll say, How? How do I actually be with him? I want to tell you this beautiful morning that he. Standing at your door and he's knocking. He's standing at your door and he's knocking. And for those of you who open the door, he says, See, he's a he's a he's a gentle, beautiful father. And I want to tell you this morning, he can break down that door. But he won't. Because in this particular case, he's waiting for you to open the door for him. And sometimes you say, Well, Jesus is in my life. Yeah, but there are certain aspects of your life that you've not given to him. And that's the same thing. It's the branch and the vine. I mean, you're that one branch that is going in a particular way, and you say, Everything else I'll give to you, Lord, but my finances I'll manage, Lord. That you leave to me, and that's the one which will get devoured because it's not attached to the vine. I hope you understand what I'm saying. Oh Lord, I give you everything, I give you my job, I give you my finances, I give you my family, but that one relationship, Lord, that you leave to me, I'll manage it. And that's the that's the same branch that's now not attached to the vine. And you don't want to know in the spirituals how that works. But I want to tell you this beautiful morning for those of you who are at that point where you're saying, How do I do this? I'm telling you, he's saying, Behold, I stand at the door and I knock. And anyone who opens the door for me, I will come in, I will be with him, and he in me. I will sup with him, I will dine with him, I will chill with him. Hallelujah. I want to tell you this beautiful morning that he's waiting at the door, he's knocking. And for those of you I know who have had a change of heart, you don't need to do anything, you just need to say, Oh Lord, come into my life, be with me, be my shepherd, be my guide, and he will enter. And he will be your father. Hallelujah. And this is for someone in particular, maybe maybe, maybe even a few of you who are looking who already have Jesus in your life, and you know you've left, maybe you've actually given everything to him, and this is for you. And I've had to put it here in today's word because it is for you.

Set Your Mind Above The Storm

It comes from the book of Colossians, the third chapter. Colossians, the third chapter, the first verse onwards. If then you were raised with Christ, which means you're already in him, he's in you, you've given your life to him. For those who are raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God. Amen. Hallelujah. If then you were raised with Christ, which means you already believe in him, you're in him, seek those things which are above, where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God, and then it goes on to say, set your mind on things above, not on things of the earth. Hallelujah. Set your mind on things above and not on things of the earth for you have died and your life is hidden in Christ. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. It doesn't mean you are dead, it means spiritually your life is in another place, and it's it's a little deep this morning. It's a little deep. The Bible says deep calls unto deep. And for those of you who have a relationship with Jesus, mark the scripture down, and it says that you already raised in Jesus. Seek those things which are above, don't bother about what you see on this planet, because we live in a planet that is filled with rust and decay and death to everything around you. But instead, set your mind on things above. Hallelujah. Not on things of the earth, because that's very seated, far above everything. Hallelujah. I want to tell you. It's not even in my examples, or it's not even in my notes, but I want to tell you, and a perfect example of this is the time when people Peter walked on water. The Bible says, Lord, if it's you, call me and I will come onto the water with you. And most of you know the story. They are in the middle of the sea and they're in a boat, the twelve disciples, and suddenly they see Jesus coming towards them, walking on the water. And they're frightened and they're scared. And suddenly Peter says, Lord, if it is you, call me, and I will come on the water to you. And he says, Come. And the Bible says Peter steps out of the boat and he walks on water. And this is exactly that example that I'm trying to tell you. For those of you who know Jesus, and I want to tell you, Peter knew Jesus at another level. And those of you who know Jesus and who have marked down the scripture in Colossians, I want to tell you that Peter was the only one, along with Jesus, who challenged the true world that we understand. And he walked on water because he walked suddenly in the spirituals. And the Bible says he saw the storm around him. There was a storm at that time. The Bible says he saw the storm around him, which means clearly he probably took his focus off Jesus and he looked elsewhere and he fell into the water. He sunk. And Jesus grabbed him and he said, Lord, save me, Lord. And he grabbed him and he said, Oh, you of little faith. He called somebody who walked on water, you of little faith. The only person who walked on water, he called him you of little faith. Because he expected more of Peter. That's why. And for you and me, this beautiful morning, set your mind on things above, not on things that are happening on this planet. Hallelujah. As I said, that's specifically for some of you.

Renew Your Mind And Pray

And this beautiful passage of scripture from the book of Romans, the 12th chapter, the second verse that says, And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Don't conform yourself to this world, but be transformed, the Bible says. By the renewing of your mind, you cannot renew your mind by sitting under a tree. You cannot renew your mind by practicing some form of yoga. Yeah, I'm not condemning you. If you do it, please do it. You cannot renew your mind by going elsewhere. You can only and only renew your mind when you are attached to the vine. Hallelujah. When you are attached to Jesus, hallelujah. When you decide to open that door and be in him, and he will be in you. And that's when I want to tell you the rock is with you. And that's when your life on this planet will be built on the rock, which is Jesus, there is no other person that is the rock of all times, besides the Lion of the tribe of Judah, Yeshua, who came down on this planet to give up his life on a cross for you and me. That tomorrow anyone, anyone, anyone who puts their faith in him will now be attached to the rock and the vine. Hallelujah. I'd like to pray. Thank you for this beautiful word. I thank you for your double-edged sword that does not go back until it has achieved what it has been set out for, Lord. I thank you, Lord, for the hearts that you have touched. I thank you for your word that has fallen on good soil this beautiful morning. I thank you, Jesus. That you stand at the door and you knock, and anyone who opens that door, you will sup with them, you will dine with them, you will be in them, and them in you and this beautiful day. As people are having a change of heart, Lord, I thank you for your presence that's all over them. Hallelujah. Thank you for your salvation that's at their door. And they will open. And for someone, I think some of you who are thinking, How do I do this? I'll tell you. Just repeat this after me. Repeat it in your own time. You can go to a room, close the door, and just say, Oh Lord, come into my life. Be my shepherd, be my guide. I know you died on a cross for me. I know you gave up your life for me. I know you are the Son who was sent down on this planet to die for me. I know you are seated at the right hand of God. I know you were raised on the third day. I know you are alive today. You are my shepherd and my guide. I take everything and I leave it at your feet. This beautiful morning, this beautiful day. Anytime you can repeat these words to Jesus, and that door will be open, and he will enter your lives. He will be in you and you in him. Your life will change, your life will be built upon the rock. I thank you for this beautiful time yet again. And I thank you for the doors that are opening, where you will be their vine. They will be attached to you. And all good things will abide in them through you and in you. Thank you, Jesus, for this beautiful time. Thank you for your beautiful presence that people can feel. Thank you for the change of hearts. Thank you for the beautiful things that are already happening, Lord. Thank you. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
