Some battles are not won because the road becomes easier.
They are won because you refuse to give up.
Because you keep going when the situation tells you to stop. You keep believing when you haven't yet seen the promise. You give your all, stand your ground, and continue trusting God even when the outcome is still uncertain.
In this episode, we explore two powerful truths from Hebrews that challenge the way we think about faith.
Hebrews 6:12 warns us not to become sluggish, reminding us that through faith and patience, we inherit the promises of God.
And Hebrews 11:6 tells us something even more profound:
Without faith, it is impossible to please God.
So what happens when faith meets perseverance?
What does it look like to keep trusting when the answer seems delayed?
• How do we stand firm when a situation feels bigger than us? • What does patience look like when we are waiting for God's promises? • Can faith remain strong through disappointment, struggle, and delay? • And what happens when we simply refuse to let our circumstances defeat us?
Throughout the Bible, we see men and women whose unwavering faith carried them through extraordinary circumstances. In this episode, we look closely at the life of Jacob—a man who faced struggle, uncertainty, conflict, and loss, yet persevered through it all.
Jacob's journey was far from easy. But his persistence and determination became part of a transformation that would change his identity forever. Jacob became Israel.
His story is a reminder that sometimes the struggle is not the end of the story.
Sometimes, what you are fighting through is part of what is preparing you for what comes next.
And Jacob lived before Jesus came.
Today, we have something even greater: Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.
Jesus Himself reminds us in John 16:33:
“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
We are not asked to face our battles alone. The One we place our faith in has already overcome the world.

Today I want to tell you that some of you or a lot of you, most of you will experience God this morning. Be ready for it. Hallelujah. Excuse me. And it's a book written by Paul to the Hebrews, and the book basically starts with Jesus. The name above all names, the beautiful Savior, and how he laid down his life for you and me. And how important it is to put your complete trust in him. Hallelujah. And the book talks about faith. It talks about, and it has these beautiful scriptures of uh, you know, how it will help you increase faith if you read it. And uh, I will start with one of those, this beautiful uh morning, and it's an amazing scripture. And as I said, it'll help you in your walk of faith.
Hallelujah. And I'm starting from the book of Hebrews, the sixth chapter, the 12th verse. And the sixth chapter in the 12th verse says, so that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises of God. Such a beautiful passage of scripture. I'm going to read it again, so that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Hallelujah. I do need to explain the scripture to you, and I want to tell you this morning that the Bible is so beautiful, it has different versions. And if you find one version too deep, you can move to the other version, which will speak to you maybe better than the earlier one. But the words are crystal clear, and it's telling you and me this morning not to be sluggish, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promise. And I want to tell you that don't be sluggish. This verse says, which means don't rest. Sluggish can be a state of mind, it can be a physical state. At this point, and don't be sluggish, it's like a person on a mission. You should look at a look at it like a person on a mission, mission impossible. The stuff that happens in that movie is something that you should relate to this situation. Like no matter what happens, it will get done. And that's the kind of attitude you should have towards this passage of scripture which says, don't be sluggish. And then it calls out faith and patience. Faith and patience. And just to make you fully understand what the scripture means, it says imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises of God. It says the promises of God. Hallelujah. And then the upcoming chapter mentions the name of the names of these people, multiple names, and their lives on this planet with amazing, undeterred faith. And some of those names are Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Rahab, Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, hallelujah. And all of these have these tremendous stories in the Bible itself. And basically, this passage of scripture is saying, imitate these guys who through faith and patience inherited the promises of God. And they were not sluggish about it. Hallelujah. Stick with me this morning. I have
this word is a bit deep, but you should you should stick with me. And uh today I want to give you this beautiful passage of scripture, again from the book of Hebrews, which will also add another layer to this. You know, some of you have ever had a lasagna. No, it's all about the layers, the flavors and the layers, and this beautiful morning. You should couple this with this other second passage of scripture from Hebrews 11 6, and then meditate on it. And let your spirit, let it seep deep into your spirit, that you understand this morning. And it says, Hebrews 11 6, without faith it is impossible to please him. For the one who comes to God must believe that he exists. Hallelujah. And he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. Hallelujah. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. For he who comes to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him. Hallelujah. This passage of scripture is saying without faith it's impossible to please God. And when you go to God, you also have to show and know in your spirit that he is a rewarder of those who seek him and that he exists. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. So in case you have any doubts, I'm just going to clear it out this morning. Without faith, it's impossible to please God. And when you take a stand of faith, you have to be 100% sure it will happen. And it will. That's what this passage of scripture is telling you in me this morning. Hebrews 11:6 means exactly that. If you don't take that stand of faith, which will please God, there is no other way. And then he's a rewarder of those who seek him. Because when you go to him, you should know he exists and that he will reward you. Amen. Hallelujah. And I have one story to share with you that encompasses both these beautiful passages of scripture from Hebrews. And before I get into that story this morning, I want to tell you again a small little synopsis before we go deep into it. Do not be sluggish, but imitate the ones who through faith and patience inherited the promises of God. And without faith, it is impossible to please God. Keep these two pillars in mind while I go into this beautiful story this morning.
That gives you an example of this. And while I get into it, I will tell you that this person's name was already mentioned in these wonderful names that I mentioned earlier. And the story comes from the book of Genesis. And I'll tell you I love this story. And you know, there are times when it even makes me emotional, but um it comes from the book of Genesis, it comes from the time in the life of Jacob. And for those of you who don't know, Jacob is of the lineage of Isaac, the son of Abraham. Hallelujah. And for those of you who don't know, let me tell you: Jacob came from a lineage that was blessed by God. God personally blessed his lineage, he personally blessed Abraham, he personally blessed Isaac. And now Jacob is coming from that line which has been personally blessed by Jesus, by God. You should understand that that's the next level thing. And I want to give you a background to Jacob. Now you'll say this guy flew through life. You'll think that because his father was blessed by God. His grandfather was blessed by God. So you'll think he absolutely buttered through life. But you know what? Let me give you a few stories about Jacob, which you probably don't know. So Jacob was part of a twin. The Bible says that you know the older times, and I don't have too many explanations about this, but there was a blessing for the firstborn, a specific, special blessing for the firstborn that would be released by the father. And the Bible says that when Jacob was in his mother's womb, before his brother could come out, his brother came before him, whose name was Esau, by the way. And just because he wanted to come out before Esau, he tried to grab onto his heel. And the Bible says when he was born, he was born grabbing onto the heel of Esau. And hence the name, Jacob, which means deceiver or cheat. Because he was trying to cheat his brother into coming out first. And if that's not enough, let me tell you something else. Jacob, in fact, actually went on to cheat his brother and took his birthright away from Esau. And it's a very big story, but he basically tricks his father Isaac, who at that time was really old and didn't have vision, and you know he was not sure about uh what he saw, so he went by touch and feel, and Jacob went all the way to going through efforts of putting on fur on his hands to trick his father to believing that it was Esau, and then he takes his eldest son's blessing from Isaac in person, and then he flees because now he knows that Esau is going to come after him because he's taken his birthright blessing, and the Bible actually says that Esau is now extremely angry with him and he wants to kill him, even though he's his brother, and then the Bible goes on to say that Jacob is on the run from Esau now, and he's fearful for his little life. And the Bible says Esau takes 400 men and goes and looks for Jacob, and Jacob is now afraid and distressed. And while he's there, he goes and takes refuge while he's in the same time in life with one of his uncles called Laban. And the Bible says he ends up working for him because he asks for his daughter's hand in marriage. And Laban cheats him and he tricks him and he gives him the other daughter. And then he goes back to Laban and says, You cheated me. And then Laban tells him, You work for me for another seven years, and I'll give you the actual daughter that you wanted. And Jacob did that too. So he worked for 14 years in total for Laban. Because he was cheated the first time. And as I said, I'm not getting into the depth of all these stories, but it's important to understand the life that Jacob had. And I started with telling you that he was blessed of the lineage of God. And you'll think he had it easy, but he didn't. He's cheated. And this is all while his brother is after him to take his life. And today I know some of you feel that way. You know, sometimes you feel that life is really difficult. Why has this problem come my way? Where does this come from? Why is this here? Just like Jacob, he didn't have it easy. And that's the reason why I'm sharing the story with you this morning. He didn't have it easy. But what I want to bring to your attention this morning, and that's what I'm going to share with you now from the word of God from the book of Genesis, is the way Jacob saw his problems, is the way Jacob looked at his situation and the way that you and I need to look at our challenges this morning, the way Jacob
did. And here I am going into the story now from the book of Genesis, the 32nd chapter. And the Bible says now Jacob has his he has a family now, and he's scared for his life. And his the and the life of his wife and kids, because Esau is his own brother, is after him to kill him and finish him off. And there's this time when he prays to God out of fear. I know some of you relate to this when you pray to God when you have nowhere to go. The rest of the time he's there, but you don't pray to him. But that's your call. But Jacob now is at that place where he's fearful and he doesn't know what to do. And he prays to God to save him from his brother. And listen to this. And I'm going to read it because it's in the Bible, he chooses a peace offering for his brother: 200 female goats, 20 male goats, 200 ewes, 20 rams, 30 milking camels and their colts, 40 cows, 10 bulls, 20 female donkeys, 10 male donkeys. And he gives it to his servants to pass on to his brother, Esau. And they meet him and they give it to him as an offering. That he may that he may be appeased before he actually meets Jacob. So basically, just to give you a background, they've aligned this meeting now, and Jacob decides before his brothers go and meet each other, let my servants go and give him an offering. So you know things probably get settled. And then the Bible says he takes his two wives, 11 kids, and sends them across the river to the other side. Just in case his brother still decides to kill him. Maybe my family will be spared. So he sends them away. And the Bible says, now Jacob is alone. And here I am sharing from the 32nd chapter, the 24th verse onwards, from Genesis 30 to
24. The Bible says, now Jacob is alone. And a man wrestled with him until daybreak. Hallelujah. So Jacob now is at this point where he's had to let everything go in his life, and now he's all alone. He has nothing left. He probably doesn't even have hope of life. And after all this, there's a man now who comes and he's wrestling with him. And the Bible says, until daybreak, which means they wrestle through the night. Hallelujah. And then the next verse says, When the man saw that he had not prevailed against him, he touched the socket of Jacob's hip, and it was dislocated while he wrestled him. Hallelujah. So you see, this man who's wrestling with Jacob is realizing that he's losing and he's not going to prevail with Jacob. So he decides that he's going to touch the socket of Jacob and dislocate it while he's wrestling with him, is exactly what the Bible says. You know how you do that little trick or that little back cheat when you want to win the game. This is in the middle of a wrestle between two people. And I'd like to look, I'd like you to look at it as a wrestle of life, or maybe one of those situations that you're in, and the one that you're up against takes one of those tricks to ensure that you're defeated. But you know what? It didn't work. Then the man tries the last the last ditch. He says, You know what? Hey, let me go. For the dawn is breaking. And then look at what Jacob tells him. I will not let you go. Unless you bless me. Hallelujah. So there's this man who comes to wrestle with Jacob and he's losing, so he breaks Jacob's hip. He doesn't break it, he dislocates it. And even then, he's Jacob is not letting him go. So he says, Let me go. It's about to become day, and I need to go. And Jacob says, I won't let you go until you bless me. Oh. And then he asks him, What's your name? And he says, My name is Jacob. And he says, Your name will no longer be Jacob. But Israel. For you have striven with God and with men. And have prevailed. Amen. Hallelujah. Your name shall no longer be Jacob, but Israel. For you have striven with God and striven with men and have prevailed. Oh hallelujah. Hallelujah. I want to tell you, Jacob, this beautiful morning. You need to understand. Jacob fought for his faith. He fought for his blessing. He fought to the point where he would not give up. And though his name was cheat, his name was deceiver. He just did not give up. Hallelujah. And some of you can feel God right now. And I want to tell you, hallelujah, praise God for that. Some of you are currently in the midst of a tough situation. Or maybe multiple situations. Maybe you know a lot of things have come together at one time and it happens. But I want you to look at the life of Jacob today and see how he dealt with things. Hallelujah. I started with the book of Hebrews, which told us don't be sluggish. But with faith and patience, inherit the promises of God. Which also said, without faith, it's impossible to please God. And that's why I shared the story with Jacob with you this morning. He was far from sluggish when it came to his situation, to the point of even death, where he did not even know if he will have his life the next day. But he fights for it. He fights for it to a point where it's amazing. For you have striven with God and with men, and you have prevailed. Amen. If God can say that to an individual, and I want to tell you, if you ever go to Google or any search engine you'd like and you type the lineage of Jacob, you'll realize even Abraham and Isaac got their promises come to life because of Jacob. And that's when they became the father of many nations, because it was Jacob who had the faith, even though the blessing was not his. He had the faith and an attitude which was different, just very different. Hallelujah. And if you understand what this means, it means you have striven with God and striven with man, not man, men, multiple of them, and you have prevailed. And then God made him a nation. Understand, he was just a name before that. He was just Jacob. And after that, from him come the 12 tribes of Israel, just for your information, as promised by God. And let me tell you, it was not just a promise from God, he made God promise him that. And believe me when I tell you, because the Bible says it. God is not a respecter of people. What did it for Jacob you will do for you? This is from the words of Jesus that I'd like to share with you this morning. And understand this beautiful passage of scripture, this beautiful story, and how you need to look at your journey on this planet. What kind of faith you need to have, please understand. It's in your hands. From the book of John, the sixteen chapter of the thirty-third verse. From the book of John, the sixteen chapters thirty-third voice. But I'll give him his complete credit. He overcame the world because he knew he needed God's blessing and he took it from God. He took it. And that's the story I've already shared.
I'm not getting into it. But this beautiful morning, I want to tell you and me and everyone here, all of us, that we have Jesus. And I want to tell you this morning, no matter what your situation, Jesus has said in this passage of scripture, He has overcome it all. He has overcome the world. If you understand what Jesus is telling you and me this morning, He has overcome the world. And understand this beautiful day. I know life is not easy. Most of us have had situations which can really overwhelm, can take you down, can put you on your knees, can make you feel like the water is above your head. But this morning, like you saw from Jacob's story in life. Don't be sluggish. And be that person who has that faith where you impress God. And you're gonna sit down and let it take control of you. No, and do it the way Jacob did. He stood up and he did what he needed to do to make the situation his. He stood up, he worked for seven years for what he thought was right. And after he was cheated, he worked for another seven years with faith and patience to get what he wanted, and then he he overcame so many things in life. And while it came to the last ditch, which is now I'm probably not even going to have a life after this, he wrestled and he didn't give up, and he wrestled and he would not accept defeat, and that's the reason why God asked him, What's your name? Not because he didn't know what his name was, only because he wanted to make a point that today you're Jacob, tomorrow you'll be Israel, because you have striven with men and striven with God, and you have prevailed. Hallelujah. This beautiful morning, I want to tell you from the name that's above all names, from the book of John 1633, saying that you have peace in the world, you will have tribulation. Jesus is telling you and me this morning, you will have tribulation, but you be of good cheer. So this beautiful morning, you look at your situations, you give it a little smile and a chink and understand that Jesus has overcome the world. Hallelujah. I have overcome the world, he says. Remember the words of Jesus who came down on this planet for you and me, and they call it out. He calls it out so beautifully telling you and me this morning, he has overcome the world. Everything is yea, and amen. In his name, understand that. And today I want to tell you you look at your situation and you claim Jesus' promise. It's already defeated. Jesus came on this planet, and I've told you what he did on that cross. Nobody can even fathom, but understand that every scripture in the Bible is yeah and amen through Jesus and what he did on that cross, and you need to claim it. Just as Jacob wrestled with that man and he did not let him go through the whole night. The man even dislocated his hip, but he did not let him go. Can you imagine that layer of faith that finally the man had to say, Let me go, it's daybreak, I need to go. He said, You bless me, then I'll let you go. Sluggish. I don't think it was a word in Jacob's dictionary in this beautiful morning. Through faith and patience, understand that Jesus is at your right hand, he's always at your right hand, and with him you will overcome it all. Hallelujah. Hallelujah.
I'd like to pray. Dear Lord, I thank you for this beautiful day. I thank you for your double-edged sword that will not go back until it has achieved what it has been said or followed. I thank you, Jesus, for showing yourself to people this beautiful morning, helping them to understand who you are, helping them to see them, see you as their father. Thank you, Jesus, for your beautiful presence. Thank you, Lord, for being faithful, though we remain faithless. Most of all, Lord, thank you for that cross because of which you have overcome the world, and we leave all our situations at your feet this morning. And just as Jacob fought and claimed his blessing this beautiful morning, I thank you, Lord. And I claim your blessing upon each and every one of us and every situation who believes that every blessing is yea and amen unto you. I thank you that you have blessed us. Hallelujah. Thank you, Lord, that every situation that is not for us has been crushed. And you have changed it in our favor. Hallelujah. Thank you, Jesus, for everything that you have made change for us because we are more than conquerors in you. More than conquerors in you. Thank you, Jesus, for this beautiful time. Thank you for this beautiful day, Lord. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
